Circuit City flyer shows Xbox 360 price drop on all systems {Joystiq}

Automotive Traveller hearts Autoblog {Autoblog}

Jul 20th 2007 10:47PM Actually, I did the post, and I don't subscribe to AT. Not that I don't like the magazine, I'm just not a big fan of the whole "digital magazine" format. Obviously, I dig the blog format. Nevertheless, we don't do any advertising at all for Autoblog, so we do really appreciate it when someone mentions the site somewhere.

Pioneer intros sexy KURO plasma lineup {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2007 1:28AM Are these the same mind-blowing Plasmas that Pioneer introduced at CES? I've been waiting for those, but can seem to figure out whether these are it or their precursors.

My dad can beat up your IRL driver {Autoblog}

Jul 9th 2007 4:00PM Whoa, settle down there. This is a blog, not the New York Times. We're allowed to biased and we make jokes all the time. Although my point that Sam Hornish Sr. had no business pushing Kanaan and that other people on hand, "racing professionals", would not have pushed Kanaan, stands.

REPORT: Teens covet iPhone over new car {Autoblog}

Jul 6th 2007 7:35PM My new iPhone is currently sitting here next to me unable to do jack because the people at AT&T are idiots. They also graciously deactivated the SIM card in my old phone, so I now I have no cell phone while AT&T takes it time activating the new iPhone.

The Detroit Auto Show takes on all challengers {Autoblog}

Jun 21st 2007 4:17PM Perhaps those who live in Detroit are jaded with it, but I have lived there in the past for two years (don't currently), and I really liked the city. Maybe that's because I live in Cleveland now, but Detroit is a pretty magical place if you're a car buff.

And I don't measure how good an auto show is by how many restaurants are in town I like or by the square footage of the convention center. The only metric I use is how many good reveals there were and how much interest the show generates. Nothing in the U.S. compares to Detroit by that standard. L.A. did make a big jump for sure, but it's still a 1.5-day show that peters out of momentum by the end of the first day. McCormick place is so big that the auto show feels small inside of it. New York is great, not too big, not too small, packed but not uncomfortably so and great town, too.

Nevertheless, I still look forward to Detroit the most.

Land Rover's ad agency has sick sense of marketing {Autoblog}

Jun 20th 2007 12:59PM Honestly, and I'm sorry I didn't think of this while writing the post, but the reason this offends me is because it's ambulance chasing in the marketing industry. Sure, when a lawyer chases an ambulance, the result might be someone getting compensation for an injury. In the same way, this agency is making sure that they offer the use of their vehicles or donate money at disaster sites. But the same fact remains for both situations, neither the lawyer or the agency would be there if they didn't have something to gain from it.

Honestly, it's the filming of the commercial that gets me. It's one thing if an automaker donates vehicles and money to aid disaster victims and its PR Director shows up with a camera to take pictures. That happens all the time. HUMMER does that with the Red Cross. But at most we see a press release and a picture or two. There's something about a commercial, specifically a commercial that uses these disasters like a backdrop on a sound stage, that irks me. I appreciate marketing folk who understand that by spreading good will, i.e. just giving vehicles and money where it's needed, is a better way to attract customers to your brand than this.
