Fujifilm's FinePix S8000fd megazoom camera gets reviewed {Engadget}
Oct 4th 2007 8:44PM This is misleading, true high megapixel cams on small chips do create noise, more so than if on a big chip but in general given the same chip size higher megapixels will add more detail. Just look at new generations of DSLR's, first gens with 6 megapixels are by far lower in detail than the newest models with 10+ mp even though they have the same sensor size.

Jul 27th 2007 1:24PM The application of tritium isn't new, it is combining the tritium with their proprietary phosphorescent compound that make it unique.
I wouldn't say tritium is completely harmless. The beta rays given off by tritium are can be stopped by the skin but if you ingest any, it will persist in your body and send out DNA damaging ionizing radiation for the rest of your life. A mouthful of tritiated water would be very unhealthy.
New MacBook Pros still overheating due to misapplied thermal grease? {Engadget}
Jun 21st 2007 12:37AM As an apple genius I suggest adding thermal grease to your fans to cut down on the noise, remember you can never have enough thermal paste. Additionaly injecting thermal grease in your ear canals will cure all other bothersome noise issues and virtually eliminate the sounds of annoying winblow$ fanboi's. A
Little known fact Apple thermal grease when taken orally in large amounts has also been known to induce altered states of consciouness frequently including vivid, highly erotic steve jobs hallucinations. Something any true apple fan must experience at least once.

Microsoft sells one million Zunes {Engadget}
May 28th 2007 1:34PM 100 million ipods is the total amount of ipods sold since the player was introduced 6 years ago. This includes sales of 1,2,3,4,5,5.5 g ipods, the 1,2 g ipod shuffle, ipod nano and ipod mini combined over this period. The 1 million zunes is for the 1g zune only. If the current amount of HDD based player market is 10 million (people replace their old ipods) then zune indeed has 10%.
Do crash-test ratings really matter? {Autoblog}
Feb 28th 2007 11:51PM I can't believe people pick bigger cars just to be safer. Now when you crash you can kill other people in smaller cars instead of just injuring them. Don't worry about those road barriers too, You'll just fly right through them completely safely with only the splattered bodies of construction workers to clean up. Great!

NanoPass needles set to vaccinate sans pain {Engadget}
Feb 19th 2007 3:07PM I don't think this will replace insulin injections anytime soon since it only applies to intradermal injections. The needle here is an array of microneddles so small that they don't penetrate deep enough for pain nerves to sense. If they made the needles long enough for subcutaneous insulin injections they would stimulate pain nerves and make the technology pointless.
Engadget photo contest -- we have a winner! {Engadget}
Feb 8th 2007 3:36PM Saving waterlogged / soda spilled electronics isn't that difficult, I've done it many times myself. Just buy a bottle of 99% rubbing alcohol and submerge the device. The alcohol will absorb and displace the water and dissolve any gooey stuff like soda or juice. Then remove and let it dry. Alcohol evaporates much quicker than water so your gizmo should be up and running with about a day of drying.
