Alpine intros PMD-B200 Blackbird II GPS unit {Engadget}
Oct 1st 2007 5:48PM Alpine must have shipped these in late August. I had a preorder in for one through Crutchfield, and I received it the first week of September. It works awesome with the IVA-W205, and I haven't experienced any of the major letdowns that plagued the reviews of the B100.

Aug 29th 2007 5:52PM The R20 is a 2.0 liter version of Honda's new R-series 4-cylinder engine. It only differs from the Civic's R18 by way of a longer stroke.

Aug 4th 2007 1:16PM the US Accord is indeed sold overseas, as the Honda Inspire.
I don't know what you're talking about with "5 revisions in 10 years" either, because the Accord is remodeled only once every 5 years. Current gen was introduced for 2003, previous gen was introduced for 1998.

More details about Honda's A-VTEC system {Autoblog}
Feb 18th 2007 12:09AM there seems to be some confusion by some in the comments, I'll try to clear things up.
The old system, VTEC, had a 2-stage system that switched to the high-lift, long-duration cam at a set RPM.
the current system, i-VTEC, added to VTEC with continuously variable valve timing, and the computer can decide when to switch to the high cam based on load, etc.
the new system, A-VTEC, adds to i-VTEC with continuously variable valve lift.
New Civic Type-R not living up to its moniker? {Autoblog}
Feb 1st 2007 1:19AM Where did this idea come from that the Civic hatch is based on the Fit? They're completely different platforms. It's true that the hatch shares almost nothing with the coupe/sedan, but it's not a Fit/Jazz.
The US Civic coupe/sedan wasn't engineered in Ohio, either. They may be built there (along with a slew of other plants all over the world), but I promise you they were designed in Japan.

Dec 14th 2006 7:09PM I don't care if Ferrari designed the ecotec, I'd still much prefer the supercharged K20.
OC Auto Show: SSC Aero {Autoblog}
Oct 5th 2006 11:19AM Why do supercars always have unconventional doors? Just to be different I guess. I have no problem getting in and out of my car every day with ordinary doors. At least the Koenigsegg did something that's never been done, these SSC doors look the same as the Enzo and McLaren F1. Highly regarded vehicles to be sure, but nothing new. I was very happy when I heard that the Gallardo would have traditional doors.
As for the interior, it's definitely not befitting of a car with such a pricetag. The gauge cluster looks the same as the Koenigsegg's. The dash is very plain.
I'd also like to know the coefficient of drag. It looks sleek, but there's no way to guess how well the underbody was designed. Does it produce enough downforce to remain stable at 240+? The Koenigseggs apparently had this problem without the rear spoiler.
