Chrysler to guarantee gas at $2.99 a gallon! For three years! {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 7:46PM Gimmick and nothing more. There's no great deal here because good new cars make good used cars and buying new crap means low resale after the promo ends. So, there's no economy whatsoever in this deal.
Chrysler needs good cars not good gimmicks.
Honda tells some dealers to upgrade, or else... {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 7:39PM Good for Honda!
One distinguishing characteristic of Honda is that its dealers look strong. Good locations, bright and clean showrooms and service areas. This builds confidence for Honda owners and prospective owners.
No greater turn-off when car shopping than a lousy showroom and service area which say that neither the company nor the dealer care about how they appear.
I wouldn't buy a car from a slob.

UAW strikes GM Malibu plant {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 12:37PM The UAW is just doing what it does best--putting itself out of business by driving auto production overseas and to non-union auto plants.
Given a choice, I'd prefer to own a car built by non-union employees who understand that they work for their companies and not for their union.
The sooner the UAW eradicates itself, the better.

Kerkorian's boy says Ford should offload Mercury, Volvo {Autoblog}
May 2nd 2008 1:57PM Volvo is a strong brand and somebody would buy it. Might be better to keep Volvo IMO.
Sell Mercury? To whom? Mercury is already dead (just a re-badged Ford, anyway) and Lincoln dealers don't need a lower-priced brand to sell if Lincoln is given a version of the Taurus along with the MKZ (hopefully well-differentiated from the Fords).
Expanding Lincoln and burying Mercury's already dead corpse make sense.
