(The SLR would have fit the image and intention of the Maybach brand a lot better than it does those of the Mercedes)

Wow, couldn't disagree with you more!
In my view, the S-class looks really special and has presence.
This new 7-series looks fine, but looks to me like a mix of the LS460 and the Accord.

Jul 2nd 2008 1:06PM I've had my 2003 Outlander since, well, Jan 2003... The most reliable car I've ever had!
Very sturdy too - was rear-ended at low speed by an Accord, with nary a scratch on the bumper! The Accord had its grill cracked and bumper messed up.
Whatever it lacks in bling, it makes up in utility and solid engineering. Go Mitsu!

With the further dilution of Porsche with vehicles like this, the halo of their brand will dim significantly.
With the brand no longer carrying the value quotient, even superficial people will start cross-shopping 911's against GT-R, AMG and M models.
