And no, windmills are not the answer. They are inefficient and prone to "breakdowns".

What, exactly, does that make fossil fuel power plants and nuclear plants then? What would you use instead of wind turbines?

Also, there is nothing 'slow moving' about a wind turbine blade contrary to your belief. The blade tips of the typical 1.5MW turbine can reach speeds of 140 MPH, that is why bats would be at risk.

Jul 11th 2008 2:04PM I was with you until you started talking about hydrogen. America cannot afford to use a system so wasteful of energy.

Also, ever heard of solid oxide fuel cells? They run on natural gas, they're cheaper than PEM fuel cells, and have a high temperature waste heat by-product. Solid-oxide auxiliary power units for heavy trucks have just been commercialized, unlike all the smoke and mirrors with hydrogen fuel cells.

Jul 11th 2008 1:56PM This article is pointless given than McElroy failed to mention Pickens' plan included widespread installation of natural gas pumps at stations to the tune of $400K a piece, another big cost but not directly to the consumer. Not gonna happen. Big surprise, a guy massively invested in natural gas and wind unveils a scheme including copious amounts of both. Not wasting natural gas in power plants anymore is however a good idea.

Lexus IS-F gets tuned by Wald {Autoblog}

Jun 19th 2008 6:57PM Ya, it needs some extra tackiness to match the fake tailpipes is what you must mean Torrent.

This car had potential to be real good but they blew it.

Chrysler to guarantee gas at $2.99 a gallon! For three years! {Autoblog}

May 5th 2008 7:42PM LOL that the is most attractive thing Chrysler has offered in years. Probably a smart deal if you get something with decent resale after the three years, eg. a diesel truck/SUV but still burns a lot of fuel.

So just why is diesel so much more expensive than gasoline now? {Autoblog Green}

Apr 16th 2008 11:51PM Consider that yearly motor gasoline imports are triple distillate fuel imports.

BREAKING: Chrysler and Nissan announce major supply agreements, shared products {Autoblog}

Apr 14th 2008 9:40PM I heard rumours of the next Pathfinder being unibody. Perhaps vehicles up to and including the next Frontier will become unibody (lots of unibody pickup concepts floating around right now), leaving Chrysler to make the Titan and Canton to do strictly commercial vehicles. I agree with what you said, that this indicated a major shift in thinking within Nissan in a relatively short time; as soon as the LCV announcement happened I figured there must be more to it than meets the eye.

New 2010 Ford 4.4-liter diesel engine scooped! {Autoblog}

Apr 13th 2008 2:11PM Its is a smart move to offer it in the SuperDuty. It allows Ford to reduce their dependency on Navistar considerably especially when they couple this with the direct injected twin force V8. By the time the Navistar contract for the 6.4 is up, Ford could combine the 4.4L with a robust parallel hybrid system (like Eaton makes) to forget about the large displacement diesel. Low-speed electric drive, bursts of passing power, high torque off idle, engine shut down, auxiliary power, braking assistance & regenerative braking, even electric drive of the PTO would all be valuable functions on a commercial truck.

BMW and Mercedes talk to Magna about Mila {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2008 8:36PM Isetta? No surprise, something like this had to happen unless BMW and Mercedes are suicidal.

Hennessey performance expanding tuning to include ZR1, GT-R and IS F {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2008 8:31PM I don't wanna see any Hennessey posts anymore. Nobody cares, it can be done better and cheaper by someone else, and most importantly, honestly.
