MCA ALA 50: Monaco's homegrown supercar {Autoblog}
May 12th 2008 8:21PM Hm, looks pretty boring, actually. Like a cross between the VW Nardo coupe, and an early 90's race car. I think the old school wheel skirts and solid wheels are a bit odd, but aside from that, looks like a pretty normal supercar. If that's possible.
Audi and BMW to utilize 8-speed gearboxes to take on Lexus {Autoblog}
May 12th 2008 3:47PM In Car and Driver's recent comparison of the M3 Sedan and IS-F, they said the 8 speed transmission was too much.
"...the eight ratios felt like too many, and in the twisties, we frequently found ourselves glancing at the gear indicator in the gauge cluster to discern which cog we were in."
Makes sense to me. 6 is really about all you need, I think- 4 close ratios for fun stuff, then gears 5 and 6 for long distance, high speed, low RPM cruising. 8? Really? I hope this pissing contest just ends soon. It's pointless. Just give us a 6 speed manual!

New McLaren supercar expected for 2010 {Autoblog}
May 9th 2008 11:57AM I agree. The McLaren F1 is still my favorite car of all time. I don't really acknowledge the SLR as being a McLaren, because it's not. A McLaren should be a lightweight, driver oriented, leading sports car. The SLR may be driver oriented, but not in the way the F1 was. And it's nowhere near as beautiful, the packaging isn't nearly as slick (in a footprint that's smaller, the F1 had room for 1 more passenger, 4 more cylinders, and a lot more cargo room....), and, I mean..... it's a Mercedes. That's not a McLaren. Their philosophies don't really see eye to eye. I need another REAL McLaren! Bring it on! And also, they should bring in the old BMW V12. That engine is still more than enough. Do a little development on it, sure, but that engine was perfect for the F1.
KEY FOR-D-GT kit fixes Ford supercar's only fault {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 7:21PM Ha I hadn't heard of that problem, but for some reason, I'm not terribly surprised.
Oh well, for all I may trash on this car, I have to admit that they're fast, quite stunning in person (one pulled up next to me going home from work last summer- made my 944 feel like an old Kia in comparison), and they sound very nice, in that big, angry American V8 kind of way. Not the way I would spend a buck seventy-five, but still, cool cars.
KEY FOR-D-GT kit fixes Ford supercar's only fault {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 7:14PM I don't think this is the cars only fault. Didn't the first models have a messed up crankshaft seal that had to be repaired by a speedi sleeve? That's sort of lame for a car this expensive.
And you thought $79,995 was crazy...GT500KR for sale on ebay for $154,991.00 {Autoblog}
May 4th 2008 10:25PM For that price? I'd take 2!
Vauxhall Tigra Sport Rouge: When a mock top isn't really a mock top {Autoblog}
Apr 26th 2008 3:07PM Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I thought part of the appeal of a hardtop convertible was the fact that when the roof is up it looks like a normal coupe. This seems like a bad idea from the get go, but I guess it at least doesn't add too much weight to the hardtop package. Still, strange.

Apr 23rd 2008 4:08PM Reduced insurance rates? If rules still apply that applied when the 911 was first made (unlikely, I know) then the back seats would get a reduction on the insurance rates. At least that was the reason the 911 had backseats way back when.
Spy VIDEO: Lexus LF-A sounds as mean as it looks {Autoblog}
Apr 22nd 2008 5:21PM zamafir- an F40 has 3 exhaust tips, regardless of whether it's a street version or the GT version. And it's also a Turbocharged V8. It looks fine on the F40 because they're just exhaust pipes- they weren't trying to make it a style element. Maybe I miss your point?
