Japanese firms working to make carbon fiber mainstream {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 11:04PM Actually, my car, BMW 6 series has several body panels that are already made of polymers. The Corvette has really light fiberglass body panels too. Like previous replier points out, I don't think they will use CF on body panels when you already have cheap-er plastic alternatives already.

May 12th 2008 10:20PM Hey Xcountryflyer

That's me in a V8 hogging up the slow lane. At least I'm in the slow lane. But, hey, I would love to go faster, but cops in my neighborhood like to give out tickets to fancy looking fast cars.

Gets old... well, at least it's a convertible and I can enjoy cruising around. :)

eBay Find of the Day: The Jerrari {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 12:12PM Nah. It's hilarious. I was born in the 70's, but grew up in the 80's. If you want to talk about the worse decade for taste, it would be the 80's (at least for music.)

May 12th 2008 11:16AM If there is a drop in HP, looks like the current S4's will be a great selling item for Audi enthusiasts. Hopefully they don't chop off any cylinders on the RS4. That V8 sounds wonderful.

Spy shots: Fisker Karma makes an appearance in California {Autoblog}

May 9th 2008 8:01PM I hope it sees the light of day. It's a fantastic looking car. From what I remember (from a blog post long ago...) is Tesla wanted a car design to compete with a BMW 5-series. This car looks way better than the 5 series. So if Tesla is complaining about that this is the car Fisker "stole", I can't see how, since it looks on par with a $100+k Maserati, or the yet to be released Aston Martin Rapide.

May 9th 2008 7:34PM Look how low to the ground the car is. Look at the wheel wells. I don't think it has stock suspension either.

May 9th 2008 7:04PM I thought there were two complaints in the lawsuit.

1. Technology stealing.
2. Design of the Tesla sedan was not up to par in looks to a 5 series BMW or a $70k looking car.

My comment was on 2. As far as 1 is concerned, I can't see how that can hold weight either. It's not like electric cars were invented by Tesla. Fisker could have copied the electric design from a number of others, why would he risk it?

May 9th 2008 6:56PM What's so funny about a journalist whining about PR spin? Happens all the time. The guy should just suck it up.

May 9th 2008 6:54PM Love the looks. Fantastic looking. If Fisker is being sued because Tesla wanted their sedan to compete with the 5 series, than I can't see how the above pictures can be any case for Tesla.

The 5 series looks boring. And don't bash on me, I like BMWs. So if Tesla is complaining that their design is boring looking, it's because Fisker gave them what they wanted; a car that competes with the 5 on looks.

This car has the looks of a Maserati. A much more classier looking car. IMHO ofcourse.

May 9th 2008 5:07PM It's kind of weird looking that first photo. The front of the car is way low to the ground. Perhaps it is braking? But the back doesn't look elevated much. Also, one side of the car is lower than the other in the front, yet the tires are not turned.

I don't think this is a production car. I think it has modified suspension. *shrug*
