VW Rabbit gets a carrot from Consumer Reports {Autoblog}

May 11th 2008 8:55PM Actually Red Star I have owned 3 previous VW's, a Golf, GTi, and a Jetta, and I never had any kind of issues like I had out of the Focus. And the Golf racked up 150K, the Gti 95K, and the Jetta 130K.... nothing major.... just normal oil changes, wear and tear, and maybe 3 recalls on one of the vehicles...which I never had the actual recall issue on any of those. The Ford was unreliable, dealer service was the pits and were very out of touch with Ford it seemed in the performance of their services. Was the worst experience ever. At least when I did have an issue, VW did get me a free rental.... Ford never offered, I had to ask and then I had to pay for one.... luckily it was Enterprise, so they picked me up!
No more Ford's for me.... unless they can prove otherwise...which will take a lot. Besides they canceled the Focus Hatchback for some weird coupe.

May 11th 2008 7:53PM Yeah Chase...the current Euro Focus feels miles better than the crap car Focus I once owned. I have a Rabbit and it has been nothing but great. Yes I think the Mazda 3 is a bit sportier... but my Rabbit swallowed a 46" Flatscreen TV and still was ready for more... and I average around 28mpg and I drive hwy and city combined. Maybe they should drive it in manual mode.... I found I get slightly better mileage when shifting myself than in auto mode.

May 11th 2008 7:47PM Probably leads to this because it has been out now since 2006, so it is on its 3rd year and has had an impeccable reliability so far.

May 11th 2008 7:45PM My Ford Focus was the biggest piece of, well you know... and I will never buy another Ford again because of it. 8 recalls and numerous non-recall issues, door handles breaking leaving me out of my car, having to enter through the hatch.... fuel pump recalled only to have the dealer not put it back on right, causing a dangerous fuel leak.... yeah Ford's are great. I have a Rabbit now and let me tell you, i have reached the 22K mark and not one issue, none.... So for those saying VWs are unreliable, you have never owned a Ford Focus or as we called it a F*%k^s.... you get the picture.

GM RWD Update: FWD Impala remains, Zeta to merge with Sigma {Autoblog}

May 5th 2008 4:56PM What I don't understand is why GM can't come up with motors to be efficient and can be rwd at the same time? GM just seems to me to be taking the cheap way out. I really can't see a RWD getting such a huge difference in gas mileage compared to the fwd. In my mind I would think pulling a car would use more fuel than pushing a car, but I am no physicists.

Vauxhall Tigra Sport Rouge: When a mock top isn't really a mock top {Autoblog}

Apr 26th 2008 6:33PM And BTW, I was being sarcastic about the wonderful Chrysler Landau tops.... they are all hideous in any application! Just thought I would clear that up! LOL! I noticed it read weird.

Vauxhall Tigra Sport Rouge: When a mock top isn't really a mock top {Autoblog}

Apr 26th 2008 6:31PM LOL! WOW!!! Talk about a flash back to a past worth forgetting! I mean come on! Chrysler gave us the wonderful Landau Tops on their old New Yorker's to give that convertible effect... I thought this was a product gone by. Scares me to see a Eurocar have this application. Imagine a BMW M3 convertible with the wonderful fabric'ed hardtop. This is just ridiculous and laughable. WHat was GM UK thinking>?? Not a page of history to repeat that is for sure!

VW announces Carefree Maintenance Program for 2009 models {Autoblog}

Apr 24th 2008 8:38AM I have owned 3 Volkswagens before and never had any issues... a 1993 Golf that had up to 72K on the clock with only one issue that was fixed under warranty (at that time my warranty just ran out had 52K and was just over warranty and dealer fibbed and made it 49K to fix it under warranty) Had an 1997 GTi (4 banger not the VR6) and it never had one problem, never went to the shop and racked up around 80K. Then we had a 1999 Jetta (before the 1999.5 came out) and it never had any issues either. So when I went to buy a new car ( had a 2003 Ford Focus SVT that had 5 recalls and about 9 trips to dealer, 4 for same issue they never could fix!) I decided to go back to VW since I have never had an issue with them. My brother bought a 2006 Civic Coupe and it has had 5 recalls, 2 times in shop for faulty windows and once for transmission problems so he told me Honda's aren't built like they used to be.... so I bought a new GTi.... and like I said no issues.
Maybe I have been lucky.... and maybe I have been lucky at my dealer.... but I enjoy VW's and the ride and interiors and features...

Apr 23rd 2008 1:33PM I have an '07 VW and I am glad it has the 4yr just because I don't wanna pay to fix anything and I have an extended VW warranty that covers bumper to bumper up to 7yrs/100K and I agree with scribbins.... I would much rather pay for the oil changes than repairs ANY DAY. Luckily my VW has been trouble free and almost 20K on the clock. The new ones are better built than models of recent past I think.
