Ford Fiesta XR4 launches in the land of Oz {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2007 5:38AM Actually, Howard, I agree with you! I saw this headline linked and thought, ‘What the heck? Why are they naming a Fiesta after a Ford Sierra?’ Or a Merkur …

Ford Oz to pick up Focus production in 2011 {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2007 5:36AM It makes sense, since Australians in particular like either full-size or compact cars (with little time for what’s in the middle, unless it’s a Camry). It would have been good if Ford released the news closer to the time of the Geelong engine plant closure.

Spy Shots: BMW X6 ditches the cladding {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2007 5:32AM There was also a Pontiac concept around that time, too—was it the Rev?

In any case, I am glad the AMC Eagle was not forgotten by the original writer or the first commenter. Looks to me like the SX/4 with an extra two doors.

Tom Poston dead at 85 {TV Squad}

Jun 3rd 2007 6:55AM He just never seemed that old. Tom had this childishness about him that made all his characters endearing. Go well, Tom.

Nanjing turns the lights back on at MG's Longbridge, UK plant {Autoblog}

May 30th 2007 8:47AM We need to remember that Yu Jiang Wei would have fought tooth and nail against the NDRC and other Communist Chinese agencies for restarting production in the UK, never mind the few jobs created. They could have equally told him to stick with the domestic market. So it's an extra miracle that this day has come for Longbridge.

Kia to enter pickup fray, too? {Autoblog}

Apr 9th 2007 1:34AM Chris, your theory makes sense. The mid-size truck is not unfamiliar to Asians, though the full-size truck is. It would not take a stretch of Hyundai–Kia’s existing talents to produce a decent mid-sizer. Even Toyota waited a long time after its US entry before attempting the full-size market.

GM's Kappa platform spawns GM Daewoo G2X in Seoul {Autoblog}

Apr 9th 2007 1:30AM At least it will be better developed than the Kalos and Lacetti.

Stupid quote of the week: DaimlerChrysler's poor planning {BloggingStocks}

Apr 9th 2007 1:20AM Heck, even I foresaw it in 2000 and what a mess DaimlerChrysler would make:

If a Joe Schmo like me could work this out seven years ago, why couldn’t he?

Weekend History Lesson: Aston Martin 101 {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2007 8:30PM Well worth the hour—some beautiful competition cars and the noise is musical.

Honda earmarks Civic for new plant in Indiana {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2007 6:33PM Reading Whofan (no. 3) above: it’s fascinating, and valid, for him to use the Malibu as a comparison vehicle to the Civic, but can anyone imagine seeing that in 1977?

I officially feel old.
