VIDEO: GM releases Corvette ZR1's 7:26.4 'Ring attack {Autoblog}

Jul 10th 2008 6:07PM I have to agree that there were a few seconds left in that car. He got that one complex wrong and lost a ton of time. Also his braking zones were kind of long. Too bad John Heinricy did do this run, for the sake of consistency. With the track and John's ability being common to both the ZR1 and the CTS-V, we would get a better understanding of the performance difference of the two cars.

That said, this car is not for the faint-hearted. Seriously badass.

Jun 23rd 2008 3:03PM Jimmy Carter was voted out of office in 1980. Since then, we have had one democrat in office for a grand total of 8 years, and three republican presidents for a total of 20 years. Exactly what have the republican presidents done? 20 freaking years of looting the treasury, that's about it.

Its pretty lame that you have to go all the way back almost 3 decades to Jimmy Carter and try to lay the blame for the "KaKa" that Li'l Bush so deftly led the country into.

Jan 8th 2008 6:51AM OK, how the hell are we supposed to get there? It starts here. Do your homework, that super powerful computer sitting in front of you, didn't just get there by magic. It evolved. See: Commodore 64, Tandy TRS 80, IBM 8088 PC. You don't just say "Poof" and arrive at the desired destination.

The real question should be about the lack of a Hydrogen infrastructure. The old Chicken and Egg scenario. GM can build boat loads of these, they'll all be grounded due to the lack of an adequate supply of hydrogen.

Instead of the jackasses in Washington setting these idiotic CAFE standards, they should conducting feasibility studies of transitioning from petroleum to something like hydrogen. If this the way to go, they should be building the infrastructure. The only Hydrogen refuelling station I know of, is at LAX airport.

Atta Boy!!! to the General. Fine automobile by anybodies standards.

Honda set to go retro in '09 with CB1100F? {Autoblog}

Jan 6th 2008 9:09AM Sorry to say, but these bikes have been around for almost two years. Just about every Japanese bike manufacturer builds one. They are selling better in Europe than in the US.

US bike scene currently split between Crotch Rockets and Smelly Davidsons, with everyone and their brother literally building customs.

BTW: Harley Davidson's V-Rod can be looked on as a first in this renaissance, since it predates any of these, and is neither a crotch rocket or a cruiser.

Detroit 2008: 2009 Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid {Autoblog}

Jan 6th 2008 8:04AM In total agreement, but it needs to be proven somewhere. The Lambdas have become pretty important to GM. Can't say I blame them for not launching them with a totally unproven powertrain.

Hope it makes its way over to them by MY-2009 though.

REPORT: Ford bought Mustang the role of KITT {Autoblog}

Jan 4th 2008 6:10PM The 'Stang is probably the least of Ford's problems right now. Other than the 'Stang, everything else in their portfolio is lukewarm.

1). A Hi-Po version of the AWD Fusion would be really nice, and something neither Honda or Toyota offers.

2). The "Sporty" Focus Coupe, seems to lack err... FOCUS. Cobalt SS taking your lunch money.

3). Re Rename the Taurus to the Five Hundred and paint them all yellow. NYC will be needing thousands of cabs really soon.

Uthanize the Montego, once and for all decide on a grill for the Lincoln brand (there is is at least 3 or 4 different ones out there now).

Here's a clue:

Ford is your Chevrolet.
Mercury is your Pontiac.
Lincoln is your Cadillac.

It actually really could work.
