Friday Humor: When was the last time you were urged to "ride the SLUT" {Autoblog Green}
Sep 21st 2007 1:30PM You don't have to go to Kansas City to get news about Seattle... but in any case, this Trolley isn't something anyone can commute on - it just runs between SLU and downtown - you could cover the distance on foot in about 15 minutes. It's for tourists and lunchtime trips. I know the connection to the commute was tenuous, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.
Fiat Siena Tetrafuel can run on four fuel types {Autoblog Green}
Aug 28th 2007 5:33PM Just to let you guys know, when a Brazilian lists "alcohol", it's talking about Ethanol.
Fake sushi in Chicago? {Slashfood}
May 10th 2007 5:43PM When I've heard about this in the past it has nothing to do with the places serving it and everything to do with the people selling them the fish. It's not just a Chicago thing either - there are a few species of fish which seem to be widely sold as other things.
Cinco de Mayo: Horchata {Slashfood}
May 4th 2007 5:18PM Horchata is GREAT! And I can vouch for the fact that the Rice Dream version in a box is actually VERY good - better than some of the home-made versions I've had or been served in restaurants.
Schedule your TiVo to record movies in your Netflix queue {TV Squad}
Mar 1st 2007 12:49PM Save the postage? Save time, yes. Postage? I gotta say - if Netflix makes you pay for stamps, you truly are a sucker.
TiVo Series3 gets TiVoCast, TiVo doesn't really get HD {TV Squad}
Mar 1st 2007 12:47PM Um... not really. Remember where those videos come from? The web. Remember how much bandwidth it takes to transfer movies? Now imagine doing it in HD. It's true that TiVo really should have thought about the aspect ratio of the files they're sending, but faulting them for not sending HD copies shows you're not thinking very hard. I'd love to have everything in high-def and looking wonderful - but when it's a web video, I don't expect the world.
How would you improve TiVo suggestions? {PVR Wire}
Nov 27th 2006 2:17PM I have one suggestion that I think is pretty important - let TiVo understand that more than one person watches TV. I find that the suggestions miss most often when TiVo is trying to combine my likes and dislikes with those of my girlfriend. We end up being one "person" who just has crazy tastes. If it could somehow separate the two, I think things would make much more sense.
Pickled veggies are in a pickle {Slashfood}
Nov 13th 2006 7:30PM Most pickles are pretty darn high in salt though, so if you have high blood pressure (and if sodium effects it), you might want to watch it there.
You don't need water to boil an egg {Slashfood}
Oct 13th 2006 7:34PM Read the link - it's just like using an oven. 4x500 watts incandescent might have a bit of infra, but would make a TON of heat. I have one 250 watt photography light that melted the socket it was in in about 5 minutes. It's just a glorified Easy Bake oven. How necessary...
Problems with the new TiVo remote {PVR Wire}
Oct 5th 2006 11:47AM I don't think I'd like the change as I can get to all the buttons I use without looking, but to be fair to TiVo, I know they would be able to recommend better for me and everyone else if more people rated things. From the picture above, it looks like they shrunk the thumbs buttons when they moved them down, so it shouldn't be too hard to reach over them. They're also very unlikely to feel like the up/down buttons above them.
