Top Gear producer drives... a 7 year-old Honda Jazz? {Autoblog}

Mar 25th 2009 2:27PM Why is autoblog falling for these carefully-placed Top Gear spin stories about their new-found frugality? Cobblers.

The show makes a shed load of money for the BBC, which itself is paid for by a $200 per year compulsory tax on nearly every house in the UK. I just don't buy the budget cuts on a show with a massive world wide audience. What sort of media company wold compromise the content of a cash-generating machine?

What's more, Wilman and Clarkson have set up their own independent company so they make another shed load of cash...

Don't believe me? read this piece by Time magazine

'And rather than pay Clarkson and Wilman out of the cash that comes from TV licenses, BBC Worldwide last year took a stake in Bedder 6, a company set up by the men, into which most of the show's commercial revenues are funneled.'

The magazine - indirectly funded by a tax - also gets massive boost from the TV show, putting rival, commercial magazines at a big disadvantge.

7 year old Jazz? I think Wilman protests rather too much....

Spy Shots: Mysterious Hyundai sedan spotted undisguised {Autoblog}

Feb 16th 2009 8:52PM Fake badge. What about the new Samsung Sm3 or Sm5 - both are due this year.

Spy Shots: Panamera mule close-ups... still looks... hmmm... {Autoblog}

Oct 28th 2008 9:00PM Ah - makes sense. I used to visit Marin county in the early 1990s as part of my job as freelance mountain bike journalist. Can't forget coming back from Specialised in Morgan Hills, and driving through SF in a Dodge Omni (?) with a fried clutch. There's nothing quite like stopping at the peak of a hill that's so steep, you can only see the sky through the windscreen.....

Oct 28th 2008 7:26PM Are the Porsches in the centre of the city? If so, they're trying to burn out the new DSG 'box on the hills. There's nowhere better to test the ability of a DSG box to hold a heavy car without frying itself than in SanF.

Early Look: 1million Aston Martin One-77 {Autoblog}

Aug 7th 2008 5:51PM I'll tell what's fishy...the Aston pic is embargoed until 0.01am UK time Friday morning - that's 81 mins from now...

2010 Saturn Aura put on hold? {Autoblog}

Jun 27th 2008 2:16PM two things will hold it up: build costs and size/weight.

Epsilon 2 is a very large platform and also very sophisticated. With the oil price and the market turning down, GM might want to get more value out of the current Saturn.

Also Saab/GM has decided not to build the new 9-3 on the Epsilon 2 for the same reasons. It will now be smaller and lighter than planned, and be built on the new Global Premium Compact platform (which is a bit bigger than the current Astra).

Score! New Mayor of London a true motorhead {Autoblog}

May 5th 2008 7:40PM Chaps, the London C-Charge was actually in the red last year, such is huge cost of admin. It only made a small profit because of the huge fines handed out if you forget to pay on the day. And you can't pay on account, or use the kind of charge card that works in the Manhattan tunnels, because Livingstone installed the world's most primitive technology. And the 25 per day charge for big engines is history....
