Canada giving Ford C$80 million for new facilities {Autoblog}
Sep 4th 2008 11:43PM Paying E.I. to laid off workers is 'cash in the trash'. Now is the time for automakers, governments, and unions to figure out how to keep jobs in Canada and the U.S. If it takes some up front investment to keep well paying jobs, it might just be worth it. The taxman giveth to the corporation, then taketh from the worker. Let's do the math... $80 million over 5 years divided by 750 workers = $21333. Your average autoworker pays way more than that in taxes per year. I'm thinking this is the better way to go, as opposed to shutting the plant down and doling out the E.I.
Toyota reduces Japanese workforce by 800 {Autoblog}
Aug 6th 2008 3:23PM I think Mike changed his name to Dennis. Even when the numbers go in favour of the big 3, import lovers still don't get it.

Aug 5th 2008 7:42PM Why is Mike replying to Mike? You must be some kind of bipolar auto fanatic. One moment you love the imports and then you drop them. Explain?

Aug 5th 2008 5:06PM Can you give more details, facts, statistics, numbers proving your statement that "Detroit makes horrid vehicles, absolutely horrible, cheap and inefficient." The price of gas has spiked and put the Big 3 at risk because they gambled on SUV's. I will fault them for that, but your statement condemning everything the Big 3 build is sheer ignorance. Prove your statement! I want more than just sales numbers! If you can write it, back it up! I'm waiting!
Chrysler cutting 1,000 white collar workers {Autoblog}
Jul 25th 2008 1:24AM Chrysler will survive in some shape or form. So all you comedians might as well line up at your local comedy club amateur night. There is a long history of excellent design and engineering at Chrysler. They own the Jeep brand. There are Chrysler plants that have been making money for the company for decades regardless of company wide profits. Somebody will buy from Cerberus when they decide to sell. It is too bad that Daimler left Chrysler nose-high in shize. Pardon the spelling.
Ford plant shuts down after worker killed this morning {Autoblog}
Jul 25th 2008 1:11AM Very insensitive and extremely tasteless comment. Do you even understand the how this worker died? I am literally speechless at this point. What can you possibly write in the face of such blatant ignorance?
Ford cancels planned third shift for crossovers at Oakville plant {Autoblog}
Jul 25th 2008 12:53AM The Flex is a squared-off mini-van with a six cylinder engine and similar gas mileage. If you like it you like it. If you hate it you hate it. The truth is if Toyota or Honda came out with something similar (ie. Highlander) there would be no controversy. It would be sheer genius according to the automotive journalists. So quit sticking it to the American big 3 when they produce a similar product. It will be a well built vehicle, that is what Oakville Assembly builds. And no I don't work for Ford, I actually work up the 410 at Chrysler.

Jul 25th 2008 12:39AM I work for Chrysler. I always have a new Chrysler in my driveway every 3 to 4 years. That is the car my wife and kids use. My other two cars were purchased used and are a GM and Ford product. I support all three American companies and always will, regardless of who I work for. Richard Durham has made a very valid point. I can't stress enough how important it is now to support OUR car companies and the people they employ!

Jul 25th 2008 12:25AM The most awarded car in history came out of the GTA, does it blow too? You don't even know what it is do you? You better get back to your village, there is an alert all over the media for a missing idiot!
Toyota Camry hybrid lead engineer died from Karoshi (overwork) {Autoblog}
Jul 11th 2008 7:02PM Market forces are not the end all and be all. I have 16 years experience in a union shop. At my car plant there are no lazy workers. You get your job by seniority, so the longer you are there the better job you will have. When you fail to perform your job, you are disqualified from it. Trust me I still have a very physically demanding line job after 16 years, but I do it every working day. There is no such thing as a lazy day on my job. So unless you have walked the walk in a union shop, don't talk your uninformed crap.
