Prius sales top 1 million worldwide as demand increases {Autoblog}
May 15th 2008 4:19PM yes but at least with coal and nuclear, we can slowly stop being so dependent on the middle east for our transportation energy...
i've thought long and hard about the usefulness of plug-in cars. at first i was strongly opposed, because i felt that it was just passing the energy problem from one hand to the other. but the more i think about it, the more i really believe that nuclear power will be our savior. look at france - they provide 80% of the country's energy through nuclear. nuclear is the cleanest, safest form of energy currently available that is economically efficient. the side-effects of it is the small amount of nuclear waste which can either be put deep in a mountain somewhere in siberia or can literally be put on a rocket and sent to the sun...
but there's too much opposition to it in the states for some reason.
Rumormill: Audi considering more powerful RS6 Avant {Autoblog}
May 15th 2008 3:31PM though i may be biased because i am an audi lover, i still think that this specific car is the most beautiful car on the market today - more than the Aston Martins, more than the 8c Competizione, more than Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
I just LOVE what this car represents: unlimited power with excellent usability, and AWD for the snow! this is the truest audi to the core in my opinion, much more than the Q5 or Q7 that they have recently built...

May 15th 2008 3:28PM "People tend to use bumper stickers for statements and mine would say "F*CK OFF IF YOU DON"T LIKE MY PRIUS, I DIDN"T BUY IT FOR YOU""
except that, in the vast majority of cases (at least among the people i know that own priuses) the people who buy priuses specificaly DID buy the prius for me (or rather, for the show of it, to make a point to everyone else). so, even if you are the exception to that rule, most people buying a prius in CA, DC, NY or anywhere else are generally buying it to make a point or try to convince people that they care about the environment. Otherwise, they could just as easily get a Yaris or Civic for much cheaper, and get slightly lower mileage, without having to buy a non-biodegradable battery as part of the car...

May 15th 2008 3:15PM MKIV: i don't think your response is based around fact.
my own opinion is that these batteries will be severely harmful to the planet once people start disposing of them... their true effect might not be known for 20 years. and the killer is, you can get non-hybrid cars with almost the same mileage currently, but people want the image of driving a prius ("i CARE about the environment..." yea yea we get it)
VIDEO: God's ringtone is a V10-powered Audi R8 {Autoblog}
May 14th 2008 5:13PM I must say, i agree with you on that.
i was thinking more along the lines of "R8 S" for this V10 model and then, the "R8 RS" version could be a much lighter version with perhaps a twin-turboed V8 or TT V10. You know, strip some of the luxuries, but in bucket seats, no storage area, etc.

Lamborghini working on certified pre-owned program {Autoblog}
May 13th 2008 5:46PM "If you can afford a used one but not a new one, you can't afford a used one. Pick up an NSX or Corvette instead."
i may never have heard it more correctly put as far as exotics go. that is a great statement.
however, i think one of the reasons that many people buy used exotics is so that they simply can get one! by that, i mean that often, unless you have already owned a lambo or ferrari, you can't even buy a new one. they either make you wait on a waiting list for 2 or 3 years or they simply refuse to sell to you period. buying used lambos or ferraris lets people get into the circle of owners without having to wait on a list for years. once they're in, they can then buy new ones more easily...
the only reason i know this is because one of my friends recently sold a business he had started and made millions. first thing he did was go to the lambo dealership. they told him the wait for a murci was on the order of 30-36 months, but he could buy a used 2005 one (this was in 2007) with 9,000 miles on it for about the same price as a new one. he jumped all over it and hasnt looked back since....
Lamborghini picks L.A. for new HQ location {Autoblog}
May 12th 2008 11:21AM i'm surprised they didn't put their N.A. headquarters with Audi in DC... i guess they want to differentiate?
Spy Shots: Baby Cayenne caught on 'Ring! {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 12:39PM "The Cayenne is a joke. If that's the only Porsche you can afford, look elsewhere for your transport."
The Cayenne isn't cheap. You can get Porsche 911 4S for cheaper than a Cayenne Turbo. and I think the base Cayenne is more expensive than the Boxster. I don't think people buying cayennes can't afford other Porsches. I think they just a more utilitarian vehicle.
Now, whether Porsche should be making it or not is a totally different argument...
