By the Numbers June 2008: Not That Bad Edition {Autoblog}
Jul 2nd 2008 5:21PM Selling days? What a crock of ****...back in Sacramento where I used to live the dealers were open 7 days/week, and in fact most of the sales came on the weekends.
Here in MI, dealers are closed on Sundays...but I'm sure if I took the time to do some research, I'd most likely find out that most states allow car dealers to be open on Sundays.
GM's sales numbers weren't as bad as predicted only because of their "72-hour-sale" gimmick. I'm sure GM lost a lot of money...I'm curious to see their 2nd quarter profit/loss number.
$90m upgrade to Cobo being pushed as automakers drop out {Autoblog}
Jun 28th 2008 10:12AM Downtown Detroit is a very dreadful place...it's Gary, IN but on a much larger scale.
First Drive: 2009 Nissan Maxima {Autoblog}
Jun 21st 2008 12:22AM The CVT in this car absolutely kills any chance of it being bought my me ever.
C'mon Nissan...offer a manual transmission and a proper 6-7 speed automatic.
Toyota lays off 200 temp workers at Tundra plant {Autoblog}
Jun 18th 2008 1:37PM If push comes to shove, Toyota will just convert that plant to build other models...such as Camrys, Corollas, and perhaps even Priuses.
Number of sub-$15k cars in U.S. falls by one-third {Autoblog}
Jun 11th 2008 7:59PM I had an Aveo as a weekend rental once...about the only redeeming thing I can say about it was that it only cost me $45 for a 3-day weekend rental.
2009 Dodge Challenger will start at $21,995 {Autoblog}
Jun 9th 2008 1:54PM The other day on Craigslist, I saw a dealer in VA advertising a new SRT8 Challenger for the low price of...$66K. No negotiation or test-drives allowed, either.
Please...put down the crack pipe and back away slowly.
I'll keep what I have and after about $2K in mods that SRT8 will be my b***h.
$66K for a Challenger...yeah, right.
Rendered Speculation: Vauxhall Astra VXR (Saturn Astra Redline?) {Autoblog}
Jun 6th 2008 8:35AM Um...sorry, you're wrong...Saturn only sold 1,091 Astras in May '08 and so far has sold only 3,477 units year-to-date.
Chock this one up as another "fail" for GM.

Ford eyeing Mexico for Fiesta production {Autoblog}
May 30th 2008 8:19PM Even with these being built in Mexico, I'm sure the profit margins on them will be razor-thin. If Ford built this car in America, they'd lose money on every one they sold for $15K.
For you who are complaining about this car not being built in America...would you buy it if it were U.S. built but cost $5-6K more?
VIDEO: Mismatched much? Challenger SRT8 vs. Civic Si {Autoblog}
May 30th 2008 8:13PM Must be a slow news day today.
First Drive: 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan {Autoblog}
May 29th 2008 4:56AM So a fully-loaded V8 Genesis sedan will cost $45K? Good luck with that, Hyundai (and I like Hyundais, btw...just about to buy a Sonata to replace my wife's current car).
