California law proposes ban on lap pets in car {Autoblog}
May 7th 2008 8:50PM So back in 87 when I took my first drivers test, the chick giving the test almost failed me because I kept leaving one hand on the shifter. It didn't matter whether I was driving on a straight, empty road or a few seconds after shifting, she kept warning me to keep both hands on the wheel or she would fail me.
Now I'm out on the roads quite a bit, often on my motorcycle, and always see these spoiled/rich housewife's driving their luxury cars or SUV's with a stupid dog on their lap.
Should a law have to exist for this - No. Anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence would no that this is a bad idea.
Should we not have a law for this because when she causes an accident she'll get a reckless driving citation due to the dog on her lap?
Well, just like cellphone users, they are usually completely spaced out mentally and have no idea that they cut someone off. It's usually the other person that gets into the accident.
If your happy not to live in California with all our stupid laws, well ok, then stay the F out. One less jackass on the road. Do we sometimes get carried away with the rules, sure, but I can pretty much guarantee that without it, even when an accident occurs not much would be done. I've been told this directly been many of my cop friends, have asked various cops I've talked to and even in writing when asked of my local police.
