IIHS crash tests small pickups, majority flunk {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2008 11:29AM Good luck with that:

"High death rates: Small pickup trucks have the highest driver death rates of any vehicles on the road, including minicars."

Caterham celebrates track days with CDX Limited Edition Seven {Autoblog}

Jun 11th 2008 9:28AM @Stuka, you don't get it. The 13" wheels are to save weight. This car has no trouble stopping so it doesn't need bigger brakes.

Bentley recalls over 13,000 Continentals {Autoblog}

Jun 4th 2008 9:49AM There's a guy in the Toronto area that drives a Continental GT through winter. It usually looks freshly washed though. :)

This recall strikes me as being rather strange. How thin is the fuel filter housing that a few years of corrosion can eat through it? And wouldn't the parts on a Bentley be coated or painted to prevent rust?

Does any automaker properly rustproof their cars?

VW Passat R36 goes on sale in UK {Autoblog}

Apr 29th 2008 4:05PM I think there are lots of people who would buy an R36 Golf over an STI or EVO if they were priced similarly.

In the Autoblog Garage: 2008 Pontiac G8 GT {Autoblog}

Apr 24th 2008 12:59PM There are only two things I don't like about this car:

#1 - the hood. GM really needs to fire their Director of Hood Nostril Excellence and hire a Director of Keeping Hoods Unperforated.

#2 - The Pontiac badge on the front. To me Pontiac doesn't mean excitement, it means cheap. But honestly, I could see myself buying a 6-speed version of this car in the future, so I'd say this car is already helping to repair the damage to the brand.

Well done GM!

Very First Drive: 2009 Bentley Brooklands {Autoblog}

Apr 14th 2008 1:46PM Great read!

I have to say, I'm a bit confused about this car's purpose in life after reading this.

On one hand, I like the purity of the design with things like the analog gauge set, forgoing the latest doodads like iPod integration, steering wheel stereo controls, and so on.

But on the other hand, my idea of the "ideal place to click off a couple hundred miles" would include keyless entry, being able to easily listen to whatever music I want and not having to take my hands off the wheel to adjust the volume.

I could understand giving these things up as a compromise in a lightweight supercar, but in a cruiser it just doesn't make as much sense.

Redesign proposed for T-Rex trike {Autoblog}

Apr 10th 2008 3:39PM I am squarly in the target market for a vehicle like this, but the fact that I might take it somewhere and get rained on is a total non-starter for me. I've already got a motorcycle if I want that experience.

Instead of working to ditch the rather minimal roof, I'd rather they work on removable body panels (roof and doors) so that this could be driven on days where the weather might change.

Think of all the people who currently have a Miata, S2000 or Solstice/Sky that might be tempted by this if it was just slightly much more practical.

Canadian pedal car gets its day in court {Autoblog}

Apr 4th 2008 3:58PM You couldn't have written this any better!

From the guy having gotten his license the day before, to the posse of bicycle cops going by, to the trial and the amish buggy and connection, and even down to the lawyer being named Terry Fox (one legged Canadian icon). Just hilarious. :)

Apr 4th 2008 12:25PM It's aircooled Andrew. Otherwise all the coolant would run out when they turned the engine sideways.

OK, I'm done too. :)
