The many MMOs of Blizzard {Massively}
Jul 22nd 2008 10:55AM Starcraft would be the next logical franchise to get a MMO.
Who should replace William Petersen on CSI? {TV Squad}
Jul 17th 2008 11:43PM Biggest problem here is they can't possibly replace Petersen, so why even try?
CSI is great franchise but the producers are gonna lose it if they don't know how to have a revolving cast. Shows like Law & Order or better yet ER have a way of introducing new characters while keeping the old ones around just long enough so viewer can get used to the new character.
Grissom's replacement should be none other than Kathrine or Eckel (sp?). Then promote the other lab techs (asian guy and the other girl) as field officers.
The could even swap characters from one CSI show to another. Have Gary Sinise's character take a trip to Vegas and sorta fill in for Grissom until someone within is promoted.
Keeping the franchise alive and fresh means having a revolving cast, because the 'cases' and stories get redundant after while.

One Shots: On the Istani Coastline {Massively}
Jul 10th 2008 10:20PM Guild Wars is far and away the most stunning fantasy MMO in terms of scenery and character fashion. You never get tired of the scenery unless of course your stuck in a barren wasteland. Even those places have their own breathtaking vistas.
Balance not what it's cracked up to be {Massively}
Jul 7th 2008 9:50PM There's never going to be a game that doesn't have balancing issues because as soon as someone figures out how to advance through the game with greater ease than intended then it already becomes unbalanced.
The games are not the problem, its the players and the culture of the acceptance that you don't have to follow the intents of how the game is intended to be played. Common question 'Is there a shorter way to level up my character?' and the response usually is 'Just do a run to the Dranei town on the second island. whenever someone completes one of the very last/hardest quests there and turns it in a bunch of NPCs spawn thanks to him. Two dozen chickens spawn there too and they constantly respawn if you kill them as long as the event goes on. depending on how fast your weapon is you can level up quite a bit killing them.'
Just like that players are just cutting corners to a point where sharing such information is encouraged and promoting it. While I understand it helps foster a friendlier community, it ultimately damages the game play because now you got situation where not just handful people but hundred more flocking to Dranei Town to level up their weapon skill. Just to hack down chickens.
Quite an adventure huh? Certainly not what game designers had in mind. What we need is for those players who feel stuck to be directed offline to a guide to how the game is intended to be played as opposed to how to cut corners.
So basically the solution is to foster fair play, in turn there will likely be less of a need to balance the game.
How would you change Roku's Netflix Player? {Engadget}
Jul 7th 2008 9:08PM biggest problem I have with Netflix instant viewer is the lack of close caption. I'm hearing impaired and the rest my family has gotten used to watching films (on DVD) with captions or subtitles.
I've emailed Netflix a dozen times complaining about the lack of CC support on their instant viewer. Their response is for me to rent their DVDs. They have even gone as far to say the technology isn't feasible right now, which of course is bullshit because sites like Hulu.com have a few films that have CC support. So the technology does exist.
Netflix is being cheap and ignoring what they see as small minority. I was so pissed by their lack of support that I dropped my payment package down from 8 DVD plan to the 1 DVD a month plan. If they don't fix this problem within a year I'll be dropping their service altogether.
Someone told me briefly that there's a class-action lawsuit against the major websites like AOL, MSN, and Yahoo for not complying with the Disability Act.
GM stock drops below $10 per share {Autoblog}
Jul 4th 2008 3:12AM Take over what?
I love how everyone here is quick to defend their favorite automaker. I don't get the whole cheerleader thing, I mean just because you buy car doesn't mean you need to defend the company.
Just because GM is hurting doesn't mean the other automakers aren't excused from making mistakes. Sure some make smarter decisions, but a lot of these decisions are based on timing. The bigger the company the harder it is to make those decisions at the right time.
Another it was bad timing that GM dropped EV1 and it was another when they overloaded the market with Trucks & SUVs when gas prices were starting to climb.
But like I said early, The other automakers had their share of bad calls.
We need to stop cheerleading, defending, pointing fingers, instead we need to just focus on the future. There's no denying that the auto industry is heading for a radical change whether you like it or not. This isn't some political slapfight that's going to go away.
Oh and for Pete sake stop using the term 'greenies' in a negative connotation. Its quite contradicting to put someone who's advocating the advancement of technology that doesn't destroy the world in a negative light. Nevermind if you believe in Global Warming or not, its just plain stupid to be against new technologies.
Its going to be the new technologies that are going to save this industry.
Brothel Bus busted in Miami {Autoblog}
Jul 3rd 2008 2:15AM While I'm sure many view this as harmless crime, prostitution attracts the worst kind of behavior towards women and minorities. human trafficking and forced slavery is all too real even in the most liberal countries.
Until there's a way to protect people from those glaring problems, prostitution is likely going to remain illegal in (most of) America.
