IIHS crash tests small pickups, majority flunk {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2008 11:20AM No surprising as the Taco is the only model up there that seems to get money in R&D. The other models seem to be the step-children of manufacturers where as tacoma's (at least around here) sell extremely well. The number of new rangers and colorados I see pales in comparison.

GT500KR underrated? 5.0 Mustang dyno tests the King of the Road {Autoblog}

Jul 16th 2008 11:43AM Yea, pay no mind it weighs two tons, yay horsepowarr! Take that Z06, I failed physics!

Bush says no bailouts for automakers {Autoblog}

Jul 16th 2008 8:15AM Wow, even bush knows we have no money left from Iraq, bailing out bear stearns, and possibly now the banks that are on the brink of bankruptcy. Yay America.

These companies don't deserve to be bailed out. Aside from unions/pension/healthcare issues, it's their own fault for having zero foresight by trying to develop more fuel efficient cars. GM is on the right track with the Volt, but other than that companies should have seen this coming long ago.

Ford is extra stupid for not dumping money into bringing some of their euro counterparts over here YEARS ago. My roomate works for a large auto mall and they're only selling about 2 new Fords a month, and they're both Foci. They can't give the SUVs or trucks away even with $500 gas cards and big incentives.

And Chrysler just sucks all together and they don't really have any appealing vehicles, aside from the Viper. Their trucks might be alright, but their cars and sedans are marginable at best (perhaps the 300c excluded). Doesn't cut it this day and age.

Red cars perceived louder than green or blue ones {Autoblog}

Jul 3rd 2008 8:21AM Probably because red catches the eye, so you'll more often look at or in the direction of the car and it's perceived to be louder because you're paying attention to it. Stupid study.

Dude busted for DUI while driving motorized cooler {Autoblog}

Jun 9th 2008 9:52AM Hey there PA buddy. Same applies for a bicycle.

In the Autoblog Garage: Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special {Autoblog}

May 19th 2008 4:18PM OK, now that you're getting bikes in the AB garage, I would like to formally apply to share these duties. I have pretty much all the major dealer networks within 100 miles of my home. Pretty please?

VIDEO: Autocar pits the Caterham R500 against a Ducati {Autoblog}

May 16th 2008 8:55AM Wow look at all the haters come out of the woodwork. I think the hypermotard was a great choice for the track that looked fairly bumpy with no real long straights. A 1098 or any other literbike would have been useless.

With the uneven surface and tight course any one of the hooligan bikes (Hypermotard, Super Duke, Megamoto) with their generous suspension travel and plenty of ground clearance is a great fit. The only thing the hyper-performance bikes have over these hooligan bikes is more power, there is little to no difference in cornering speeds - especially on road-like tracks.

Great video, amazing riding as well.

Lutz declares that first Volt mule is running 40 miles on battery power {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 11:33AM Good to see they're making progress, though I'd be interested to see how they're driving this thing to get 40M on a charge. Are they/can they use the AC or defroster or heater while the ICE is off? Are they puttering around town at 25mph, or mixing in 65+mph jaunts on the interstate?

Toyota responds to Ford's new initial quality ads {Autoblog}

May 12th 2008 9:34AM I was shocked to see these commercials mention toyota directly, basically admitting that "Hey, our cars used to suck and we just mailed it in, but our falling sales reminded us that we should TRY to make good cars!" As their target audience, that's not very reassuring.

As, "initial quality" and "initial value" mean squat to me. I don't care how the quality/value is perceived when you buy the car, I car what it's going to be like in 5 years, THAT is a measure of quality and value.

Obama picks worst car ever to come out of Motown {Autoblog}

May 7th 2008 11:34AM I agree with Bob-omb, my family had a '82 granada and it was a terrible, terrible car. It wouldn't engage reverse unless you would rev the hell out of it, which you can imagine was all sorts of fun once it finally caught.

I remember how happy the family would get once the mechanic could figure out what was wrong, only to have something else go wrong the next week.
