Mar 1st 2008 4:49AM What an awful car. The concept had so much promise and I really liked it. But then Mr Winterkom (VW's new boss) saw it and decided he did not like it and wanted to change the front to be less Audi-esque... And then he messed up a whole lot more. The concept's lower boy was in a contrasting colour thus making it look low an lithe... But since that does not work with that awful lower front grille it was ditched. So the back bumper makes the car look like a beached whale. Fat and ugly... But the worst for sure is that front lower grille. A mish-mash of textures and shapes as if they just could not make their minds up as to what to do there. The vertical smooth bits need to be body colour at the very least...
And then a dead standard Eos/Golf/Jetta dash... lovely rear seats (with a totally different headrest design to the front ones!!!) maketh a nice interior not. This car is the biggest disappointment from VW in yonks...
Rendered Speculation: 2010 Fiat Panda may take retro cues from 500 {Autoblog}
Feb 28th 2008 12:14PM MINI built their brand for ages with one little car. And they built it very carefully. If Fiat was to do this to the Panda (and I read about rumours to make the next Multipla also look like a 500) they will struggle to keep the impetus they have at the moment for the 500 "brand". A grave mistake in my view to make all their products 500 clones.
