Rendered Speculation: Vauxhall Astra VXR (Saturn Astra Redline?) {Autoblog}
Jun 6th 2008 8:49AM I agree that the Saturn sales approach has become less attractive in the current environment, however the Astra sales comparison isn't valid because its a supply problem.
I also think the marketing approach, especially the ad where a couple laughs at a goofy looking guy in presumably a fast car spilling a drink due to acceleration, only serves to turn people off the Astra. The conclusion is the Astra is dead slow but that's OK because it doesn't matter. Which is arrogant.
What? Car & Driver says M3 better than GT-R and 911 Turbo {Autoblog}
Jun 3rd 2008 1:45PM C & D is at it again, stirring the pot in hopes of generating increased magazine sales. In the past they have even stated that is their style.
In addition to this comparo they also do one on the 425 HP Challenger vs. the 315 HP Mustang Bullitt. The Mustang almost ties the Challenger's performance despite running narrower all season tires vs. the Challenger's summer only Eagle F1 supercar tires, all while costing 13+% less. With the predictable unbalanced C & D outcome of course....
Oh they also say on the cover that the Cobalt SS is tested, however not true, its only a 'short take' where the writer doesn't have a clue and thinks the stupid old tall rear wing is the only one that comes with the car.

May 27th 2008 5:25PM Yes I'm even more upset with the lame media coverage than I am with her prima donna attitude. The people running in positions 3 through 7 got virtually no coverage and that's simply not right. She did basically nothing while she was racing, given that she has a top 3 team ride.
Yes she can drive OK but has no clue, even now after accumulating a decent amount of experience in these cars, how to take the car to the final level of performance. Her own in car comments proved that (along the lines of - I dunno what I need to go fast, you guys have been at this longer than I have - WHAT? Somebody ELSE'S fault? TYPICAL!). A top racer will TELL the crew what he/she needs.

Apr 25th 2008 11:36AM No comment in the release about the weight. Need to compare this to the existing model, both 4 and 6 cylinder versions. Without that ability, we don't know enough yet whether there is "zoom zoom" as they claim, or not.
So long, Champ: Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach marks end of Champ Car World Series {Autoblog}
Apr 22nd 2008 7:51AM It will be sad not to hear the sound and see the speed again. However the IRL cars are close enough, and now having the numbers of cars per race up in a reasonable range improves everything. Just reduces the number of races I watch, that's all (spotter to driver - "inside, inside" -ralf... ovals don't count for me).
It has a nice personality: Ford boosts Focus production by 30% to meet demand {Autoblog}
Apr 15th 2008 9:52PM Sales increase? Compared to a 2007 Focus model that was, what, 7 years old? Of course, they didn't completely botch the "new" (if you can call it that) version. All that much.
So it seems the only story here is why Ford's original production schedule was that pessimistic in the first place.
Chevy Cobalt SS Sedan: First official picture released {Autoblog}
Apr 6th 2008 5:06PM 0-60 source was performancecarnews.com, I could have picked from many other admirable and expensive cars.
Oh, and speaking of your Audi S5 comments, 'carve the road' etc., PAY ATTENTION: Nordschleife - Cobalt SS 8:22.85. Audi S5 8:26. Source fastlaps.com.
I'm certainly getting a great deal of pleasure laughing at your embarrassing foot-in-mouth disease, as evidenced by your uncalled for and way over the top reply, in view of these lap times!
NOW go back to your sandbox, BOY, and leave the discussion of cars to adults.
