Ford stock up thanks to Kerkorian, Volvo remains "not for sale" {Autoblog}
May 6th 2008 1:20AM I do not buy the "Volvo is too integrated with Ford" hence it cannot be sold argument. Manufacturers share platforms all the time. Ford, Fiat and PSA have common models between them but are all independent companies. Volvo will be sold. The reason it has not is that no one is buying. BMW was interested a while back but there are cheaper ways for them to resurrect the Isetta brand. Last in the news was that a Chinese brand was sniffing around. To all the Volvo guys out there, watch out for the little things. The dead giveaway would be if Ford starts tampering with your IT (ordering system) and if HR starts interviewing more often than not.

Kirk Kerkorian to up ownership in Ford to 5.6 percent {Autoblog}
Apr 29th 2008 1:22AM You guys have said it. This does not make sense, unless....Kirk got a whiff of a Ford/ (insert name of other car maker here)? He is just expecting for the Ford stock to jump at the announcement of a potential merger and make a quick buck; either that or he is just looking for a PR stunt.
E.U. officials clear sale of Jaguar, Land Rover to Tata {Autoblog}
Apr 26th 2008 3:15AM The best thing that happen? Yes, Ford never understood the brands. Management structure intact? Wrong! Two problems here: 1-Leftover Ford "boys" that FoMoCo management was too happy to transfer out of the mothership to PAG to get rid of them under the guise of promotion. Those ex-Ford guys are desperately trying to get back into Ford only to find out that Ford does not want them back. These are now part of JLR (often top) Management and should never have been in the first place. They only got the job because they were originally from Ford and because Ford wanted them out of the core business.
2- Brain drain, most of the guys/gals that can find a better paying job have/are, done/doing, so. Left are the true believers, tied to a pension, or too tired to care.
First problem that Tata will have is NOT cash but people.

Chrysler in talks with Fiat to build Alfa Romeos in the U.S.? {Autoblog}
Apr 16th 2008 12:37PM True but that is because they were made in a factory in Southern Italy that Fiat wanted to close down (they now built Lancia instead).
