Judging the Tesla Roadster and Chevy Volt by different standards {Autoblog Green}

May 9th 2008 10:33AM While you may be right that Tesla owners are more forgiving to their maker than Volt folk will be towards GM, I think that stems purely from a "little engine that could" scenario.

For years, GM has been the placard for inefficent, shadily built, and earth-killing machines. Their love affair with SUV's made them blind to the fact that IF GIVEN THE CHOICE the American auto-buyer would consider a well-designed frugal go-getter.

Tesla's stance has always seemed to be a product of frustration within this industry. Frustration with the fact that WE DO posess the technological ingenuity to remove oil and gasoline from our transportation equation. Frustration with the fact that WE CAN build a near-zero emissions vehicle and be environmentally responsible while looking good doing it.

Tesla, in effect, dons the visage of a philanthropic pioneer. GM on the other hand... will continue being seen as the lazy, greedy, old-world company hell bent on profits and margins instead of the betterment of mankind... who only just now sees fit to jump onto the eco-conscious bandwagon.

Of course an eco-car from such a company would fall under increased scrutiny. What does GM know being a company who, for the last thirty years, got %30 overall less mileage than Honda, a racing company?

Minnesota boy rides bike into Prius he didn't hear {Autoblog Green}

May 8th 2008 11:13AM This is so f*cking retarded. I can hear a prius just fine... I can hear its gasoline engine, its tire noise, its belts and fans... unfortunately people will always look for a quick way to make a litigious buck... and stupid courts will give them the opportunity.

Even the f*cking Tesla Roadster makes noise! (and what a sweet sound it is!)

Are Hypermilers a menace on the road? {Autoblog Green}

May 7th 2008 11:03AM One of my buddies does this in his Prius. It's really not as obstrusive or annoying as you might think.

I've known people (and this annoys me to no end) who either have to be pressing the gas pedal or pressing the brake... there is no "in between" or such thing as "coasting." This method of driving I find way worse than anything these greenies do.

Let them be... we're really picking on them for lame reasons. Grandma/Auntie G/your sister/(insert name here) is far more annoying to be tailgating on the highway than a hypermiler.

J.J. Abrams Reinventing 'Star Trek' {Cinematical}

May 2nd 2008 1:13PM very stupid

J.J. Abrams Reinventing 'Star Trek' {Cinematical}

May 2nd 2008 1:13PM I gotta say... the moment I saw the trailer for it... and I see a bunch of blue collar welders gluing pieces of the ship together... where there is obviously gravity and oxygen.... I wrote off the movie as a total piece of crap.

So... a big ass starship... is assembled on the ground... by a bunch of grungy high-school dropouts...

I'm no trek fan... but that's just stupid.

Lamborghini wants less Audi DNA in its products {Autoblog}

May 2nd 2008 12:51PM "We have a quality benchmark with Audi," Winkelmann said, "[Lamborghini] gets the best and fastest, and Audi gets us the cheapest."

Is that a typo? If not, it's a confusing statement. Lambo gets the best and fastest.... but Audi gets US the cheapest? I.e... GIVES Lambo the cheapest? What is he saying? Or should the word "us" not be in that sentence?

New rendering of electric BMW Isetta {Autoblog Green}

May 1st 2008 1:24PM OMG... please make it look like that. I'm sick of all these green vehicles looking like a "care bear" swallowed a "my little pony" and puked it into a giant teacup from the ride at Disney World.

I drive a thirsty sports car right now and the only reason keeping me from buying a greener vehicle is their pansy-ass aesthetics.

Make it agressive and add lots of performance and swanky interior upgrades... and I'll buy two of 'em. Guaranteed.

The fact that we DON'T have a bad-ass green car right now only serves as proof that the auto companies have too much vested interest in the oil industry.

I suppose the Tesla fits... but with not enough practicality.

Audi adds a new entry level gasoline version of the TT - 35mpg! {Autoblog Green}

May 1st 2008 11:24AM Wait... wha? I thought the TFSI engine was the small displacment twin-charged engine, no? You know, both a turbo and a supercharger? Did I miss something? Did audi change their verbage to only mean a turbo w/ direct injection. Or am I just totally crazy?

Ghostbusters dev: Xbox 360 is holding us back {Joystiq}

Apr 30th 2008 12:04PM You know... I've come to the conclusion that processing power has little to do with quality of gaming. So what if fewer moving objects can be shown on the screen at once... the human brain can only track up to 11 discrete movement patterns at a time... and that's if you qualify as a genius! Any more and your brain simply ignores them.

I would consider my Dreamcast to be vastly inferior to even my original XBOX... but that SEGA machine has delivered some of the most memorable and highest quality gaming experiences I've had to date. If I had to take my ps3, 360, or Dreamcast with me on a deserted island... I'd take the Dreamcast every day and twice on Sunday.
