Apr 17th 2008 2:27PM Jesus, $60K a year for an assembly job?

Through a quick add to a local "community" newspaper, and in a week you will replace all UAW with immigrants who hold college/university degrees, do better job, respect their workplace and ask for $30K year to be happy.

Apr 17th 2008 2:23PM One day they complain about jobs going overseas, the next day they want more money.

Simple economics, if 1000 workers in China make $5/day each vs. 1000 UAW worker at $30/hour each making the same product, guess, where will the jobs go? Or, if we artificially interfere with the market, the product made by UAW will cost, what 5-20 times more, and who will be willing to pay for it?

No questions, most executives do not deserve their compensation, especially during the times their companies bleeding money. And I agree that the shareholders should have the final say on the compensation of the top brass.

However, that does not diminish the fact that UAW is grossly overpaid. No education, assembly line job paying as much as UAW pays is simply irrational. Is too much to ask? Yes, it make you less competitive comparing to the rest of the world, and it makes your company less competitive and it makes your economy less competitive paying overinflated salaries.

If you make this type of comparisons, you need to look at Oracle and Apple. Both CEOs make $1 a year.

Apr 17th 2008 10:07AM What I see on the pictures looks good both from inside and outside. What I read in the article, i.e. MPG and $$, makes it even more attractive.

I want one today!

Tesla files suit against Fisker Automotive {Autoblog}

Apr 15th 2008 10:53AM What a joke. With all due respect to Tesla's achievement, it is not the prettiest car on the road. It is rather plain and forgettable.

Fisker cars, on the other hand, are unique, beautiful and easily recognizable vehicles. To claim that Fisker, a guy who's been producing most influential designs for decades, stole ideas from absolutely unoriginal car is just ridiculous.

Apr 15th 2008 9:21AM I would like one with 4 rows of seats and seating capacity for 12. I don't mind having no leg room at all, so you can jam the seats right against each other, as long as it says seating capacity for 12 in the manual.

Apr 15th 2008 9:04AM Honda came up with a formula for success:
Last generation Mazda Tribute rear
Ugly Nissan-like front
Useless second and third row seats - look how well it worked for infamous Jeep Commander
Minivan-like shifter to hinder movements inside the vehicle

Way to go!
