Dec 7th 2009 4:14PM Considering the questionable "safety" crash standards of Chinese autos...them Chicoms are desperate to acquire any of the two reputed crash worthy Swede automakes.
REPORT: Diesel Beetle, electric Up! coming from Volkswagen {Autoblog}
Dec 7th 2009 4:09PM I've seen this Up Lite concept over at the LAIAS last 12/4, even took nice pics of it (though cordoned off from close scrutiny)...it does look like a sharp CRX.
Review: 2010 Suzuki Kizashi GTS is up for the Challenge {Autoblog}
Dec 7th 2009 2:42PM I've also seen both the Kizashi and the new YF Sonata in person at the LAIAS last Friday. Though the Sonata is indeed impressive..have you seen the unit under the enclosure/fronting a wide screen monitor..the one next to the Equus? I hope all the displayed Sonatas are pre-production.
In checking the details of the one next to the Equus...Hyundai seems to have overlooked the pre-show inspection of this unit, notably the finish of the black window frames on both front and rear doors.
The paint finish of said window frames are sub par with noticeable blunt weld dents spots (more evident right above the rear door handles) and paint bubbles. Also, I noticed the interior driver door panel finish needs some refined detailed trimming with excess plastic and vinyl at the edges.
Granted Hyundai is going leaps and bounds with their new models and their perceived "quality"...but upon seeing these quality kinks on a debut model is a real TURN OFF.
I was impressed with this Sonata...seems like years ahead from the competition. Albeit, I was turned off by the quality kinks above...Like I mentioned, I do hope these cars are pre-production.

Dec 7th 2009 2:24PM Ditto with NT Matt on the repulsive Acura-bots...
Also, Suzuki could included the awd Subie Legacy in the cross shopping list (under affordable awd).
Granted the Subie can be had with a stick/awd combo...but a cvt/awd Kizashi is but a minor gripe of mine, compared to the daily aggravation of owning an ugly looking Legacy.
Judging by looks alone, the Kizashi trumps over both...
LA 2009: All-new 2011 Hyundai Sonata to come in regular, turbo and hybrid {Autoblog}
Dec 5th 2009 2:41AM Btw, is this new Sonata a CC killer? Comparing the two cars earlier from a quality and refined standpoint, VWAG is still ahead of the game with the CC, esp the interior. It's still up there along with the German big leagues MBZ and BMW...though Hyundai seems to be catching up, from a notch or two below.

Dec 5th 2009 2:20AM I've seen the new Sonata in person today..granted this Hyundai seems to have skipped a generation forward in advanced design from the previous series.
However, I hope the displayed new Sonatas are pre-production. In checking the details, Hyundai seems to have overlooked the finish of the black window door frames, esp the rear door quarters. Paint finish of said window frames are sub par with noticeable wavy weld dents spots and paint bubbles. Also, some details in the interior door panel finish needs some refined trimming with excess plastic and vinyl at the edges...
I was impressed with this Sonata...seems like years ahead from the competition. Albeit, I was turned off by the quality kinks above...Like I mentioned, I do hope these cars are pre-production.

Suzuki's Kizashi Test Drive Challenge offers $100 to Audi A4 and Acura TSX buyers {Autoblog}
Dec 3rd 2009 7:28PM Looks like Suzuki's going aggressive lately marketing the Kizashi...saw a big two page ad in a new C&D for Jan '10.
Then at the LA Autoshow (going there tomorrow) the Suzuki booth is now situated between Subaru, Volkswagen and Acura (talk about comparisons) at the front of South Hall. Before their booth was always relegated to the same small, limited back spaces of said hall for several successive years with no other automakers nextdoor.
2010 Hyundai Tucson makes the drive to America {Autoblog}
Dec 3rd 2009 1:23PM "as the form seems to draw quite a bit inspiration from the Nissan Murano, especially in the rear."
Agreed. But the end result of this new Tucson looks far better than that Nissan..
LA 2009: All-new 2011 Hyundai Sonata to come in regular, turbo and hybrid {Autoblog}
Dec 3rd 2009 12:24PM So no more smooth V6...only I-4 GDI's (normally aspirated, turbo and hybrid).
Wonder which engine the Sonata "smooth" (V6) crowd would gather to...choices, choices..not.
