Sorry, your SUV is now worthless {Autoblog}

Apr 30th 2008 10:33AM living in michigan does not mean you need an SUV because it snows. i lived there my entire life up until 3 years ago. i had a FWD VW rabbit gti (1984) with pirrelli summer tires and had no problem getting around in the snow. the fact that the heater was broke so i couldn't defrost the windshield didn't help (nothing a towel and a brush couldn't fix), but never did i say, holy crap i can't drive in this blizzard unless i have an SUV.
and for those who live in the rockys and say they need SUVs, learn to drive! we had a mazda 323 with winter tires and had no problem when i lived up there and worked at a ski resort. the only issue we ever had with weather was when it was -20 deg or colder the car wouldn't start because it was to cold.

SPOILER ALERT: thrills, chills and spills at the Australian Grand Prix {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2008 12:03PM let see, he started P15 passed 8 cars in 1 lap, held a solid 3rd place (for a total of 12 cars passed). where he made 1 mistake by passing for 2nd place and going off on dead tires (soft compound tires with 30 laps on them...). from there his engine had troubles how is that one of the worst drivers of the day? no one but bourdias made anywhere close to as many passes for position.

how about nakajima who rear ended kubica under a safety car? thats a rookie mistake... or how about kovalainen who "accidentally" hit his "pit rev limiter" with one lap to go letting alonso pass his on the front straight....

obviously half the people posting here didn't even watch all of the race

Honda touts heat-harnessing hybrid technology {Autoblog}

Feb 21st 2008 10:34AM and both honda and BMW stole my idea (at least i like to think so). i even posted my idea on our college car club forum a full year before BMW released their article. ironically the BMW system was called the turbosteamer, and i called mine the thermocharger. both had identical concepts, heat exchanger on the exhaust, utilizing the existing water cooling system on the car to extract even more energy from heat, water pumps, and the power generating turbine. guess i should have patented the idea before i posted it on a public forum huh.... doh!

here is my idea (read about it half way down the thread):
http://hopecarclub.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=179&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

and the BMW concept can be read about in the gizmag link. and honda is late to the game.

Honda readies new hybrid attack, calling the Civic Hybrid a mistake {Autoblog}

Dec 25th 2007 11:52AM you know that E-85 still requires an IC engine right? and just like oil, using a hybrid system will still make it more efficient right? regen braking, running on electric motors at idle, etc will make the car more efficient regardless of what fuel it is burning.

i'm still waiting for someone to come out with a plug-in turbo diesel hybrid that gets 100+ MPG.
