California considers legislation for PHEV conversions {Autoblog Green}
Jul 25th 2008 11:43PM the California Air Resources Board should be (but is not) a self-defeating organization. In other words, CARB should be trying to put themselves ouit of business. This rule says to me that CARB is makng a bid to operate outside of its original charter and ensure that they have the ability to regulate personal motor vehicles after personal motor vehicles no longer detract from the air quality of California. Regulating charge time and brand specific chargers? How does this regulation contribute to California's air quality? How long until some entity like SEMA sues the CARB?
In the Autoblog Garage: 2008 Chevy HHR SS {Autoblog}
Jun 2nd 2008 12:57PM I like it.
it's different, powerful, gets good fuel economy, and you can get it with a stick shift. The styling isn't for everyone, and honestly, I prefer the styling of hte Mazdaspeed3, but Mazda screwed that car up with the ricer fart can exhaust that bellows louder than my mother-in-law.
GM may divorce trucks and full-size SUVs {Autoblog}
May 9th 2008 12:07PM I really don't see the point of splitting the lines. 25 years ago, Suburbans were RARE, and used for the original intended purpose of moving heavy equipment or crews of workers. Maybe a small school or church used them as busses, but that's pretty much it. I thing GM just doesn't want to let what has become a cash cow for them recede back to it's original slot as a "fringe" vehicle. They have to let this one go and focus design efforts on the vehicles people will really need/want in the coming years of the $200 barrel of oil.
Sorry, your SUV is now worthless {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 10:25AM all you fools who bought big SUV's should look on the bright side as presented by a bridge engineer:
your worthless SUV will ultimately glut the market with cheap scrap metal. New bridges won't cost so much, and then the states won't have to jack your gas tax to pay for the more expensive steel.
in closing: enjoy your new Prius.
"The worst moment in history to demand biofuels" {Autoblog Green}
Apr 15th 2008 6:35AM how about investing those petroleum products into something that will really make a difference in world demand on food, water, and energy:
condoms.
VW Rabbit is the new top-researched car on Gaywheels.com {Autoblog}
Apr 10th 2008 11:14AM I'd bet the procivitiy towards a smaller car probably stems from the fact that larger gay cummunites tend to be centered in urban areas. Try parking an Escalade in Manhattan some time. I'd also bet that the fact that they are mostly hatches stems fro mteh the fact the better small car models are derived from European models, and the continental folk have always loved hatches,regardless of sexual orientation.
Common sense and logic are hardly gay-only attributes, but it's shame that the cars with those qualities get a bad rap from some people for that very connection. It's real shame that stupidity is so far removed from owning a full-size SUV, too ;)
Clarifying Audi's powertrain plans for the 2009 A4 {Autoblog Green}
Apr 8th 2008 7:19AM well, Audi just one sale.
I'm amazed they they think they can get away with this kind of nonsense with Subaru and BMW attacking the Audi AWD market share from both sides.
First Drive: 2009 Audi A4 on the Autobahn and in Ibiza {Autoblog}
Apr 7th 2008 9:23AM I understand that there may be logisical and financial issues with certifying a manual transmission in car. But that's really not my problem. IF Audi wants to sell me a car, then they have a problem. IF they don't care about keeping an otherwise dedicated audi customer, then I guess they don't really have a problem, after all.
First Drive: 2009 Audi A4 on the Autobahn and in Ibiza {Autoblog}
Apr 7th 2008 6:52AM whoh- wait a minute..
I was all ready putting money away for a deposit on a new A4 avant, but no there's no manual transmission in it? If that's true, then Audi just lost a sale
Poll: Auto execs favor McCain by 70% {Autoblog}
Apr 2nd 2008 8:38AM I find this survey pretty much as I expected I would. After Obama basically gave them a lecture on how backward and obstinate the US auto industry is, I can't imagine many exec's are going to back him. The saddest part is that Obama is probably right.
