First Drive: 2008 MINI Cooper S JCW {Autoblog}

Jul 24th 2008 4:13PM I owned a first-gen Cooper S and I've driven the MS3. The MS3 has gobs of HP but also has gobs of torque steer to boot. The MINI was more refined but both cars have a purpose and I don't think you could go very wrong with either of them.

Euro-Fords could come to America as Mercurys {Autoblog Green}

Jul 23rd 2008 12:37PM I think the idea has merit. Mercury is almost dead at the moment. Use it somewhat like GM is using Saturn and I think it's a decent idea.

VIDEO: MINI Clubman vs. Go Kart {Autoblog}

Jul 23rd 2008 12:33PM Makes a good point though. There are VERY few cars that wouldn't look like a wallowing mess compared to the kart.

Elon Musk on PHEV's, battery technology and solar cells {Autoblog Green}

Jul 17th 2008 8:51AM Charging EV's at home via solar is a no brainer. But, ignoring the need for consumers to travel more than a one charge amount of range per day would be a TERRIBLE mistake. Even though people drive less than 40 miles a day under 95% circumstances, they will be far less likely to buy a car that is limited in range/recharge capability for when they need it for that remaining 5%. Ignoring that is almost unforgivable. Two car families may be able to take advantage of an EV that doesn't quickly recharge bit for someone buying one car to suit all their needs, this would definitely be an issue for those that aren't totally EV focused.

Also, cramming this technology down our throats in a short period of time may end up having the opposite effect we want (remember early diesels) if the infrastructure isn't available to support the transition. We aren't going to get off of fossil fuels in 3-5 years without collapsing the economy. If you're okay with that, knock yourself out but, I'd rather see a transition supported by a real infrastructure. Cutting edge is fine but most consumers don't have the stomach for bleeding edge transitions.

eBay Find of the Day: 1973 Porsche 911 electric conversion {Autoblog Green}

Jul 17th 2008 8:31AM Yea, I can see converting a '74 (2.7) but not a '73 for goodness sakes!

Spy Shots: Honda's hybrid-only Prius fighter! {Autoblog Green}

Jul 17th 2008 8:22AM Folks, it's a test mule that's "disguised as a Prius". No company would copy the Prius exterior on purpose.

Spy Shots: Honda's hybrid Prius-fighter caught {Autoblog}

Jul 17th 2008 8:20AM Wake up folks, it's DISGUISED to look like a Prius so people don't know it's a Honda test mule. It's THAT simple. Good grief.

Obama calls GM a "sobering reminder" of U.S. economy woes {Autoblog}

Jul 16th 2008 8:06AM This is just more political hot air contributing to nothing but global warming.
