I thought the 60-70mpg claims were for the Hybird Diesel Electric?
as the mid size segment gets bigger these cars all put on weight in an effort to increase interior space and quiet down the cars.
Subaru Posted 40 City and 50 Highway for the legacy Diesel.. thats 150hp , 250ft Lbs and AWD!! (3300Lbs) FROM a 2.0LTR!!!
So whats up VW???

May 21st 2008 9:57AM Real world a prius only gets 3-4mpg better than a TDi VW. My sister has one and it's really not as good as they claim (check the net) and besides..it's a prius.. Rather have a substantial German car than one of those anyday!

May 21st 2008 9:53AM I had a 2001 TDi Golf , it got consistently over 50mpg @ 70mph on the highway. Check on TDiforums.com ..lots of people getting 600++ miles to a tank.

There are guys running in the 10's with stock C6 Z06's on DR's!!!!
I bet in the next year , it will be common place to see people bolt on underdrive pulleys , and long tubes and hit low low 10's if not 9's...
the GTR has lots of technology , but with that kinda power it's like bringing a pee shooter to a Gun Fight.

May 7th 2008 2:48PM IF (and it's a big IF ) they beat the GTR , what will all the GTR leg humpers be saying (keeping in mind I do have a GTR on order) but not foolish enough to proclaim one car better than the other based on what's written in a magazine by a complete stranger. American journalism when it comes to cars is horrible. Now if the stig drives it around Top gears test track and it's faster than the Vette and the Gt2 I will believe it , but until then it's just marketing hype and a lot of you are eating it right up NON NOMNOMNOM!
