Lexus cancels next-gen SC, Toyota cancels next Avalon {Autoblog}
Jul 12th 2008 2:55PM I see a lot of Avalons around here... but then again, I live in a Midwestern city where large sedans of all kinds sell very well (and is also home to the #1 Buick salesguy in America). And Avalon owners are also very loyal.
If Toyota takes the Avalon away like Kodachrome was yanked from Paul Simon, I'll expect revolts at the Toyota dealers here from a bunch of retirees and executive account managers.
Verizon "in talks" to buy Alltel for $27 billion {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 5th 2008 10:18AM Actually, Alltel spun off their landline ops as Windstream Communications a few years back... so Alltel has been a "pure-play" wireless company for quite some time now.

Jun 4th 2008 6:48PM If this merger goes through, Chad will get a "lateral move" to the Test Guy's answerman!

Stink Fast! - Porsche Design cologne {Autoblog}
May 31st 2008 4:40PM I was actually reading about this, and this should be out in October... it will be made and distributed by Groupe Clarins, the same company that makes Azzaro and Thierry Mugler fragrances. So, in the US, it should be as easy to find as your local Macy's or Sephora.
Still, this isn't the first car-branded fragrance. There's also a Ferrari line of fragrances, a Jaguar fragrance, a Corvette fragrance, and a HUMMER fragrance for men. As for the last one, being the cologne fan I am, I wouldn't want to smell like a HUMMER in the age of $4/gallon gas...
Sprint gearing up to offer $60 / month unlimited calling plan? {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 20th 2008 8:57PM And wait until iPCS screws it up by not including off-network roaming and charging $10 for 100 roaming minutes, making it not "unlimited" after all... I know they will.
After all, Sprint may be bad, but the iPCS affiliate areas are even worse...
Verizon's unlimited plans get official, not as stellar as previously assumed {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 19th 2008 11:44AM VZW is also offering unlimited PDA/smartphone and BlackBerry plans for $129.99 per month ($149.99 with unlimtied messaging).
Verizon FiOS to start transition to all digital in the spring {Engadget HD}
Feb 11th 2008 9:35PM BTW, I read elsewhere that Fort Wayne, Indiana will be the first FiOS TV market to get the upgrades (on or around April 1st), and the D/FW Metroplex will be last in late September.
In Fort Wayne, 30 HD channels will be added in April, then 30 more in June... and yes, the Big Ten Network (in SD and HD) will be part of the upgrades (in Fort Wayne at least).
Detroit 2008: Toyota Venza crossover to challenge Edge, Murano {Autoblog}
Jan 14th 2008 12:14PM I don't think there's any relation... the Venza is built off the Avalon platform.
Cars.com releases new American-Made Index: Camry and Focus fall off {Autoblog}
Jan 2nd 2008 4:38PM That is correct. Also, the Solara is going away after 2008, as Toyota is replacing it with the Venza "crossover sedan" which will also be built in Georgetown, KY.
So Toyota saw no need to replace the 3.3L 3MZ-FE V6 in the Solara with the 3.5L 2GR-FE (which is sourced from Georgetown's on-site engine shop, as well as West Virginia).
