Survey finds most Americans think in-store movie renting is fading out {Engadget HD}
Jul 24th 2008 6:18AM I haven't rented anything from them, or online sources, in years. I buy what I want and try real hard to make sure of what I get is really weanted. Mistakes on my part are given or sold out of inventory. This goes for Blu-ray, too.
I also never contributed to PPV. I am their worse customer. :)
AT&T splitting 2 HD / 2 SD and 1 HD / 3 SD into separate service levels? {Engadget HD}
Jul 23rd 2008 6:00AM Why would anyone be surprised by any service company employing a nickle and dime approach to their cowsumers? Just be quiet and eat your grass.
AMIMON, Motorola, Sony, et al. join hands on wireless HD standard {Engadget HD}
Jul 23rd 2008 5:58AM Good luck with that. The natural barriers in the home that will be their obstacles will probably require enough transmission power to cause house-to-house interference. Now add interference onto other devices within the home and I am sure this media pop will only lead to expensive, limited success solutions that could be resolved much easier on the wallet via hard wire solutions.

Jul 23rd 2008 5:55AM Even they will not deny themselves the spoils of religious consumer wars. I guess they cannot get from a good book what is needed to persuade fanatics to give in a time of thin giving. LOL

Jul 23rd 2008 5:53AM I guess they've realized that the ultra-niche market of $10K and up consumers is a bit limited these days. Sony and their 1080P SXRD that sells for less than $5K must be impacting them.
Pioneer's 32- / 37-inch KURO LCD HDTVs get hands-on treatment {Engadget HD}
Jul 22nd 2008 5:25AM For non-critical viewing its way over priced. For critical viewing, you'll never get whatever someone thinks they are getting in terms of contrast. This is most definately targeted for the more-money-than-brains consumer. :)

Jul 19th 2008 7:28AM Ha Ubi gone soft and replaced Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six with this kind of game products? Is there another military/counter-terrorism CoOp game that allows at least four-players?
I may have to put my 10-month old PS3 to use beyond its current Blu-ray duties (never played a PS3 game) and try SOCOM. Tired of waiting for my next Ubi-fix.
Vizio's 42-inch VP422 plasma gets reviewed: you get what you pay for {Engadget HD}
Jul 17th 2008 5:40AM I'm still amazed people are trying to get anything out of any direct-view or flat-panel product considering the common application involves ambient lighting (that affects color, black level, etc.). If you want critical viewing technology then start with a controlled viewing environment first.
Even a $5,000 KURO isn't going to present a picture for movies with a lot of dark scenes when operating in a room with light. Yet, cows will be marketed well no matter the price point.
