VIDEO: Cadillac CTS-V takes to the 'Ring, pummels into submission {Autoblog}
May 14th 2008 9:53PM Good find. I had actually forgotten that the Spec C was that fast on the 'Ring... with a standing start no less. I guess it should be quicker with a rolling start. This in no way detracts from the Caddy's run though. The Impreza is a flyweight compared to the CTS-V, plus it's awd. Not to mention most of us would rather live with the Caddy every da, with it's leather seats, stereo and air conditioning.

May 14th 2008 9:14PM I'd rock it. It looks quite at home on the 'Ring. That's about the most drama free run I've ever seen on the Nurburgring. I'm curious as to why they used the automatic equipped version though. I'd be willing to bet that the auto is quicker on this particular track. Maybe not having to worry about a clutch and gear changes isn't such a bad thing after all...

May 14th 2008 9:07PM There was an R33 GT-R 4 door. It was built in celebration of Nissan's 40th anniversary. The first version was built by Autech, and the 2nd was a joint Autech/Nismo project. They are extremely rare though.

May 13th 2008 2:03PM I agree. It's a shame he died, but I'm glad it wasn't due to unsafe conditions/machinery. Not an entirely bad way to go, doing what you like.

May 12th 2008 1:54PM True, but it was an impressive drive nonetheless IMO. Yes he was running light, but he was also on the harder compound tire until he switched to the softs in his last stint. The Ferraris ran on the grippier soft compound tires for the bulk of the race and seemed to be in perfect harmony with the track. The McLarens were also consistently losing ground to the Ferraris in both the second and third sector: I always watch F1 with the live timing up, and it paints a more complete picture on just how well the cars handle the different parts of the circuit. I dunno why McLaren has so much trouble getting the car to work on the softer tire, while Ferrari makes it look so easy. They'll have to figure it out if they want to be serious contenders for the championship.
Also, Kovalainen would've had a much better result if he and Kimi never had that little incident in turn 1. To me, he put in a better drive than Lewis, but was just unfortunate. But you know what they say: that's racing.
