I don't know what kind of epic narratives you receive as text messages, but it takes just as long to read a text message as:
1. checking what time it is
2. looking at how fast youre going
3. looking at a billboard
4. looking at what street name you're coming up on
Phones aren't attached to your lower body. You can move them to the same field of vision as any of the same things you would normally glance at while driving.

May 1st 2008 5:19PM I got the M50SA from newegg when they had it on sale... with shipping it came to $1466. 2.5ghz penryn, 1680x1050, 4gb, hitachi 500gb, ati 3650 1gb... i couldnt pass it up for that price since ive been needing a new laptop.
