Leaked slides preview GM's future {Autoblog}

Jul 18th 2008 2:37AM The Cruze is miles ahead of the weirdly shaped Cobalt so that's nice. But the fact that we won't get the Beat.. that is such a downer. I figured it was a no brainer that model should be offered here and had already tucked away into my future plans the idea of picking one up. But then I guess 'no brainer' is giving certain individuals too much credit.

British Army replaces Land Rovers with US-made Ridgback {Autoblog}

Jun 30th 2008 2:42PM I thought we had moved beyond the point where people believed there was a direct correlation between thinking the American and British governments are run by liars and megalomaniacal self-serving douchebags, and supporting the troops stationed there.

We went there for WMDs. No, wait.. we went there because al Qaeda and Saddam are buddies. No, wait.. they hate each other. We went there to free the people from Saddam. Yes, that was it all along.

Service members I am behind 100%, but I cannot understand how it is possible to not be pissed at being thrown into that situation by suits who can't even define a consistent reasoning.

As for my comment, this article was written in a way which lead me to believe that the British had not been using these vehicles at all. My mistake for not performing the necessary due diligence required after reading anything on Autoblog.

British Army replaces Land Rovers with US-made Ridgback {Autoblog}

Jun 29th 2008 7:13PM Not that I'm thrilled about the mess over there, but it's about time troops were given vehicles which weren't rolling with armor equivalent to a can of tuna. Of course it will probably take a decade before these things actually see field duty, at which point it will probably cost too much to fuel them.

Obama critizes McCain's $300m battery prize {Autoblog}

Jun 24th 2008 7:50PM Exciting, another shouting match. Like most sane people (read: not a career politician), the most obvious solution is finding some kind of compromise (read: legitimate compromise, not the two-faced crap we're fed daily). A reasonable ramp-up in efficiency *and* a prize to develop better batteries and methods of electricity generation. DARPA Grand Challenge has proved that if you dangle just a little cash in front of nerds and dorks (read: people like me), who are already interested in this stuff, the people with the means to fund their research will jump on board with the hope of recovering the costs.

$10m or $20m, hell $50m even, seems more than enough however. $300m seems arbitrarily high for something without very specific requirements at this stage.

Harley-Davidson gets into product placement in new Indiana Jones flick {Autoblog}

Apr 30th 2008 1:15PM Forget the chromed out horrors you spot dentists and lawyers riding, that's what a HD should look like.

VIDEO: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe B-roll {Autoblog}

Mar 20th 2008 8:04PM I mostly like the look of this thing. What Hyundai really needs at this point is a logo which doesn't look as if it were designed in 1985 on a tight budget. Even Toyota's grotesque badge is better.

How hot is this car though when my complaint is the badge?

Bourdais calls Indy merger "horrible" {Autoblog}

Mar 3rd 2008 9:04PM My only disappointment with the news was that the IRL wouldn't be visiting Long Beach. This year is going to be weird, with the deal as late as it was there isn't any way to avoid that. I think next season will be the first one you'll be able to begin judging the merger with. Just please bring back Long Beach, Sonoma isn't nearly close enough for us hordes of SoCal fans.

REPORT: IRL-Champ Car unification a done deal {Autoblog}

Feb 19th 2008 1:17PM It's about effing time. I hope this works out.

BMW mini-car development underway {Autoblog}

Feb 4th 2008 2:08PM The dilution of the BMW brand continues. Hey guys, you're not GM or Toyota, and that's a good thing.

Champ Car Atlantic champ turns down $2 million {Autoblog}

Jan 24th 2008 5:51PM But we certainly wouldn't want to reunify American open-wheel racing because that would just make too much damn sense. That whole NASCAR thing is surely just a fad.
