As much as I would like to get paid to be an automotive journalist, I think this author is willing to say anything to make a buck. Granted, I've not read it, but I think we're entitled to our skepticism...

Chicago 2008 preview: Volkswagen Routan leaks out {Autoblog}

Feb 5th 2008 4:35PM On the interior... I agree in part with zamafir... it's drab, and unloved. It envokes no emotion, and based on that, it's clear that this van is NOT headed to Europe for the more discerning European consumer. I'll give it props for optional xenon HIDs, though.

The exterior is still excellent, compared to the original Chrysler design, which makes SpongeBob SquarePants look round and sleek...

Feb 5th 2008 4:26PM She'll think this one is German, though... even though it'll be built in Canada, and Chrysler's getting big bank for this project

Feb 5th 2008 4:24PM My girlfriend's mom has owned nothing but Chrysler minivans (albeit for American pride)... and I'm surprised by that, simply becuase she couldv'e "Lemon Lawed" each one...

Feb 5th 2008 3:41PM I went to Autobild... checked out the galleries... the interior is virtually un-touched... I would've liked to ate least see the VW-style blue/red instrumentation behind a more VW-like steering wheel... and no DSG (I wasn't holding my breath or anything on that one, though).

Feb 1st 2008 11:40AM I'd take the VW over the Chrysler version any day. Of course, having said that, I'd like to indicate that I, am, in no way defending VW for their choice for an engineering partner. I'm just banking on the VW being a little nicer than its Chrysler counterparts, especially if VW uses THEIR parts suppliers and not Chrysler's. Plusher leather, perhaps?

I guess we can't hold out for an AWD version with a DSG tranny, can we? Diesel?
