Ford to Tata: $2 billion is just the beginning for Jag and Land Rover {Autoblog}
Jan 27th 2008 8:22PM Not affect their stock one bit? Ha! Ford´s stock is plummeting. From $9 a share in November to just $6 recently, Ford is in a jam that will not be very easy to get out of.

Jaguar and Land Rover to build coolest design studio on Earth {Autoblog}
Jan 27th 2008 6:20PM So much money for a design studio? The great designs start as dreams in the head. Said by Battista (Pinin) Farina. Millions spent for new technologies will get you nowhere if the designers don´t have the magic necessary to come up with great designs. Sir Lyons had such a studio? No. He had the magic to come up with the most beautiful designs. Ian Callum? Hands down, the worst designer in history. All his works are cheap rip-offs of the Lawson/Helfit works. How to save Jaguar? Get rid of Callum now!!!!!

Jan 26th 2008 9:48PM Why these days, auto manufacturers have to insist in producing ever more powerful cars? Accidents like this always will happen when high performance brands brag about their latest super powerful models. Or perhaps bad driver education? Who is to blame? The parents who let their kids drive about in such cars, or the car makers themselves who produce the cars?
REPORT: Ford to say "Tata" to Jaguar, Land Rover soon {Autoblog}
Jan 26th 2008 9:45AM I somewhat have to disagree with you. When Ford bought Jaguar, their (Ford´s) bureaucratic bean counting management mentality set in. Everything was/is being done by overstaffed committees. Design, engineering, etc. And what Jaguar puts out today is proof. When Jaguar started out under William Lyons, Jaguar was managed as if it were Lyon´s own home. Lyons designed the cars, and had them produced according to his specifications. No committees, no bean counters, nothing. Jaguar was an efficient company, and hence profitable. Ford today, appears more like some ministry under a socialist government with all its do-nothing employees rather than a private company. Ford sank JLR and vice-versa. The management employees have their days counted. If Ford doesn´t sell JLR, their jobs will be axed. And, if Ford does sell, Rantan Tata, despite of what he says will axe everyone´s jobs. In India, employer-employee relations are like that of task-master and slave. So how can it be so possible that the unions support Tata?

Jan 26th 2008 8:52AM Correct. But who today is British in Britain? Not even the royal family is British, they´re Germans. That´s why they let BMW buy LandRover.

REPORT: Cadillac CTS Coupe to start production in 2009 {Autoblog}
Jan 23rd 2008 9:08PM I like Cadillac, it´s got personality the German brands don´t have. The new Cadillacs look good, and have potent engines. A V6 with nearly 300 HP? I´ll take one over any comparable BMW, which must be at least 10K more. GM´s looking good.
VIDEO: Ian Callum on the Jag C-XF Concept {Autoblog}
Jan 19th 2008 4:40PM He can´t. Callum is the worst designer I have ever seen. I myself can design a Jaguar better than he can. Malcom Sayer´s XJ 13 is untouchable and Callum knows that. Perhaps he is already preparing new TATA designs in order to keep his job, even though it be at a lot lower salary.
Ford to Tata: $2 billion is just the beginning for Jag and Land Rover {Autoblog}
Jan 19th 2008 3:26PM There are 2 issues at stake here. The final deal with Tata if Ford sells, and Jaguar. Tata wants the technology and production facilities only to produce Tata vehicles in England to sell on the European continent, specially since the Pound is very low against the Euro. Jaguar, will be sold off only as a name, but with nothing, neither design nor production facilities, etc. So who ever buys the Jaguar name, will get it at a very low price. And from there start again from scratch.
