9ff proves the GT9 is stupid fast, tops 253 mph {Autoblog}

I seriously doubt anyone who buys a $1 million Bugatti Veyron or any of these cars for that matter really cares about what the price of gas is. Not only could they afford all the gas they want but they probably won't even drive these cars that much.
Greenpeace: Carbon capture is not going to save our climate {Autoblog Green}
May 8th 2008 2:11PM Once again Greenpeace presents arguments that don't have the slightest base in reality. Of course we could all switch to wind and solar tomorrow if there were that much capacity and if our energy budget was unlimited. I love how they're so concerned about "passing the costs onto consumers" and want everyone to switch over to energy that costs double the price of coal.
Audi seriously considering U.S. plant {Autoblog}
May 7th 2008 6:20PM Hmm. That's funny, I don't remember German-made Audis setting the world on fire with their reliability. That leads me to believe its either poor build quality or just a whole lot of engineering flaws. Either way, bringing a plant to the U.S. couldn't hurt.
By the way, as of the last reliability ranking, Audi barely edged out Dodge. Ouch
Strike forces GM to suspend truck and SUV orders {Autoblog}
May 7th 2008 11:44AM The unions have demonstrated that as long as GM is showing even the slightest profit they will continue to go after them. I hate to say it but people wonder why these types of jobs get sent overseas; they get done. Sadly this doesn't look like its going to end before GM declares bankruptcy and the union members lose ALL their benefits but until then the UAW will just keep asking for more and more.
GM releases details on upcoming 4.5L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 {Autoblog}
May 5th 2008 4:47PM @ C.W.
Ford makes a great 3/4 ton truck for sure. The engine, however, is average at best and and is one of the areas where it falls behind its competitors. Cummins and Duramax are both great motors but Ford is still wiping egg off of its face from the infamous 6.0L Powerstroke engine. The sooner Ford ditches International the better off they'll be in the long run.
Mazda2 MPS and 280 hp Mazda6 MPS on their way {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 4:51PM I'm not going to lie, that Mazda 6 in the picture is a damn good looking car. Mazda designers did well sculpting that thing and the engineers did even better squeezing 280 hp out of four cylinders. I'd definitely buy that.
Sorry, your SUV is now worthless {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2008 10:47AM Of course no one "needs" a boat. Nor do we "need" things like television and air conditioning. We'd be fine without them but it makes life more pleasant to have them. Hippies just can't seem to understand that anything more than food, water, clothes and basic shelter is technically a want.
Next-gen Prius coming in January with more power, efficiency {Autoblog}
Apr 29th 2008 12:30PM No one is saying that efficient cars are a bad thing, they aren't. The reason people bash this thing is because of smug statements like yours and the fact that this car is, in fact, designed to appeal to a certain demographic. There's a reason Honda didn't sell nearly as many Civic hybrids as Toyota did Priuses and it has nothing to do with practicality or fuel mileage. In fact, Honda determined that the Civic didn't sell as well because it was not conspicuously hybrid enough. So yes, you can say that Hybrid owners genuinely care about the environment and all but I think its equally fair to say that they care just as much about being seen in a hybrid.
GM slips to number four on the Fortune 500 {Autoblog}
Apr 23rd 2008 12:10AM That's because the government doesn't understand economies of scale. They see the $40 billion dollar profit without taking into account the fact that ExxonMobil spent about $450 billion on its operations. The fact is they are a huge company with huge profits but their profit margin is not abnormally high. I really don't see why no one seems to understand this.
Oh no!, Bob's not going to like this! NHTSA to propose 36mpg by 2015! {Autoblog Green}
Apr 22nd 2008 4:48PM Its comforting to know that important public policy decisions are being made by someone with absolutely no technological or economic know-how. There's no way any automaker could possibly meet this without going out of business. Why doesn't she just pull out all the stops and demand that CAFE be raised to a mandatory million-billion miles per gallon by the end of the year.
