2010 Chevy Camaro - Official Details and Images {Autoblog}
Jul 21st 2008 10:56PM EPA numbers are crazy. These days they seriously underestimate millage of new cars, specially on highway. Before they made up new rules around 2005, I used to reliably beat the EPA numbers for highways by 2-3MPG simply driving at 70-75Mph with cruise control. Later they made the numbers even more conservative. I don't buy them.
I wouldn't be surprised if the V6 Camaro model could get around 30MPH on highway while cruising with cruise control at 70-75mph

Is it over yet? Oil prices drop like a rock {Autoblog}
Jul 19th 2008 4:28PM The sliding dollar will insure that the dollar prices of oil will keep increases. The dollar will continue sliding as long as we import more goods than we export, as long as we have loose monetary policy, and as long as the economy is weak.
2009 Mazda6 starting at $19,220 {Autoblog}
Jul 16th 2008 12:20AM Given the current $4.5/G gas, unlike most readers here, I find the 4-cylinder option with the 5-speed auto (with manual shift) for under 20K a really attractive bargain. 5 years ago manual shift was available only luxury car automatics and 10 years ago, 170hp is what you'd get from an 2.7L V6 Accord. Things have come a long way since then.
Russia now Europe's biggest automotive market {Autoblog}
Jul 14th 2008 10:13PM According to the geographic definition, Europe ends at the Ural mountains. Since the vast majority of Russian population lived and lives west of Ural mountains, Russia is in fact a European nation, both culturally and geographically
BMW 335i wagon won't be coming Stateside {Autoblog}
Jul 3rd 2008 7:21PM No surprise here. BMW, just like Honda, is not bullish on selling its wagons in the USA because they will compete with the more profitable SUVs.
Spy Shots: 2009 Ford F-450 Harley-Davidson Edition {Autoblog}
Jul 2nd 2008 6:05PM I am really glad that Ford has learned its lesson, and finally "gets" it, and now works hard to bring products to the market that will make it more competitive at the time of ever shrinking auto market, increasing gas prices, and a huge slump in SUV and truck sales.
3-liter Audi diesel confirmed for Porsche Cayenne {Autoblog}
Jun 23rd 2008 5:26PM 240HP is an amazing amount of horsepower for a 3.0L diesel. I mean, 240HP would look good even for a 3.0 petrol engine. I suppose the torque is pretty good on this engine as well. Why can't VW offer its SUV with this engine in the USA?
GM says 17,398 workers took buyout {Autoblog}
Jun 22nd 2008 6:26PM Once again, a domestic automakers plays hundreds of thousands of dollars as a "buyout" to each one of those workers simply for the right to lay them off. No wonder the big three are not doing well. Any economy where you can't simply lay off a worker will not function as well as it could. Notice how "well" the GM, Michigan, the other rustbelt states, as well as France are doing in comparison with the rest of the USA. There is no such thing as a god given right to have a job for life. The sooner the unions are brought down, the better. Unfortunately, the US might just lose its domestic auto industry in the process.
BMW 123d hanging out in Michigan {Autoblog}
Jun 2nd 2008 4:24PM This is what they should have offered in the US instead of the 135i which is getting uniformly bad reviews. A nice looking compact RWD hatch, probably with great handling, faster than GTI, and with 45MPG fuel economy. Even with a higher diesel price, fueling this car should not cost more than say a civic. If they offered it for the A3 price this would be a great move...
GM looking for Volt tax break to bring cost below $40k {Autoblog}
May 26th 2008 3:27PM Give them a break please. GM is trying to bring the first ever general purpose electric to the mass market. We subsidize all sorts of technology research for the public benefit as in the research grants to universities for example. Helping auto makers to push their first electric vehicles is not much different from that. Though, giving a tax break to people who can afford a $40,000 does not seem very tenable politically.
