And if memory serves, the GTO (btw I agree, dumb name) did well below expectations. Even the Solstice/Sky's numbers dropped significantly after the first year hype. He's the only person who seems to believe Pontiac has a hope in hell of surviving. And what of the whole disaster of the Beat?
So I wouldn't say he improves product. Nearly all of his "initiatives" are short-lived that are great for getting a brand name out there (for which he takes all of the credit, because, heaven forbid someone might actually be, y'know, better than him), yet are hardly large volume money makers, which is exactly what GM needs now, if not yesterday.
He's just as deep into the political mess as the next exec at GM. Marine or no.
