May 28th 2008 12:18AM Rumor has it that Diddy is in the market to buy an F1 team. If he does manage to get into F1, how much "bling" will the drivers be required to wear?

May 23rd 2008 8:54PM +1!!! If I had the coin to buy this car, I would race at every vintage race I could enter. This car is for driving, and at vintage races the drivers are well aware of the collector's items they're piloting and you see far fewer crashes than at other races.
Klye Busch: the next American to test in F1 {Autoblog}
May 23rd 2008 8:30PM I don't think Rahal's an idiot, although I'm surprised to hear him say that considering he has driven a BMW F-1 car in a demonstration in Las Vegas and he's going to drive a BMW M-3 race car in some sports car races next year for his father. I would think the improvement BMW has shown this year would have Graham looking to drive for BMW-Sauber in the future. BMW sells a lot of cars in the U.S. and an American driver would draw a good number of American viewers to F-1 and BMW in my opinion.

May 18th 2008 3:38PM Those aren't the actual exhaust pipes, they're the holes where the pipes exit the bodywork. If you check out

You can see pics of the car in development. It looks like the engine, or at least the exhaust has been removed from the blue R8.
NBC passes on U.S. Top Gear for now {Autoblog}
May 16th 2008 1:39AM There was a Speed Test Drive show featuring the new Pontiac G8 GT that had Adam Carrolla and Tommy Kendall driving separate G8 GT's around the track at Willow Springs while commenting on the car. It sure felt like an audition for Top Gear. Carrolla was trying to be knowledgeable while humorous, with mixed results. What the program did show, though, is that Carrolla is a good driver. I race at Willow Springs almost as much as Buttonwillow (the pic in my avatar was taken at Willow Springs) and Carrolla was driving the correct line for the most part and did some showing off, pulling controlled drifts with Kendall around turn 3. Clarkson & Hammond have nothing to worry about from Carrolla & Kendall when it comes to Top Gear though. And no U.S. network television show could ever tell it like it is about cars because the networks rely on advertising $$$$ from the auto makers. The BBC doesn't rely on sponsors, so the Top Gear guys are free to speak their minds about the cars they test. And to launch rocket powered Mini's down ski slopes, and race a bicycle, a train, and a power boat across London, and go to Miami with $1000 each and buy a junker to drive to New Orleans, and..... you get the picture.

May 14th 2008 9:12PM This is definitely Buttonwillow, configuration 25. It's one of the least technical configurations at Buttonwillow. I've driven that track more than any other and my race car is stored there. You'll never see this car on the street. It's a Mazda designed body and Mazda motor on a Courage chassis LMP-2 class race car. That's also why it sounds the way it does, it's a race tuned engine without the need for mufflers.

Danica Patrick to test for Honda F1? {Autoblog}
May 4th 2008 9:27PM As Sebastian Bourdais is proving this year, you can be a 4 time Champ car series champion, (or IRL for that matter), and not win in F1, although he's doing better than he should be doing with Scuderia Toro Rosso and showing up team mate Sebastien Vettel. In F1, you have to be on the right team. Look at Kimi. He maybe should have won a championship with McLaren, but he moved to Ferrari at the right time and now he's reigning world champion and looking good for a second championship. Racing is as much about marketing as it is anything else, and Honda letting Danica test is a smart move. It doesn't mean they're going to give her a seat. As for the next American to break into F1, my money's on Graham Rahal with BMW/Sauber.
