Why are factory navigation systems still so expensive? {Autoblog}
Feb 26th 2008 6:54PM Hehe well Guenther I doubt you could get that long of a term on a Mini. I didn't say I rolled satnav into my financing. Just saying that's why options cost so much. And my math (that I didn't do) was a bit off. More like 30-40 bucks a month on a 60 month note.
Why are factory navigation systems still so expensive? {Autoblog}
Feb 26th 2008 4:21PM Because they roll it into your financing. It's only an extra 10 bucks or so a month on your payment. That helps hide the true cost.
The end of the muscle car, yet again? {Autoblog}
Feb 16th 2008 3:27PM Hmm....while I agree with this article totally that still doesn't explain why the muscle car was killed off in the 70's as an OVER reaction to the OPEC crisis. I think what we're seeing today is an OVER reaction to CAFE and to global warming. V8 muscle cars don't need to be killed off if they are sold in small enough numbers and mostly to enthusiasts. Let the V6 model be the one for people who put a lot of miles on their cars and need better efficiency. Don't kill off the cars the define the brand. Do that, and we'll abandon domestics for fuel efficient imports as we did in the 80's.
Transport Canada to implement speed limiting device {Autoblog}
Feb 10th 2008 1:10PM I love this idea. Think about it.
1.) If cars can't exceed the speed limit there would be no reason for speed traps or traffic cops.
2.) How long to do think it would take clever individuals to hack this system?
Therefore: I get to drive around in my hacked car at any speed I want because there are no traffic cops!!
Brilliant!!

2008 Nissan GT-R unveiled on cover of Motor Trend {Autoblog}
Oct 17th 2007 12:06AM There's not really a history, to my knowledge, of a Japanese car in this price range doing really well in Europe. The NSX never did.
A "cult" car by definition is not a huge main stream success. There was a "cult" following for the EVO in the U.S. but that car never sold well here.
A lot of people talk about what car they would or wouldn't buy if they had the money. I know I do. Fact is, most people who have the money don't spend 80k on this.
Don't get me wrong. It's probably a great car and worth every bit of 80k. But looking at Nissan's bottom line, I doubt this car will be a financial success. But, I guess that's not the point of a "halo" car. I really hope I'm wrong and that people care about performance more than fads like 80k SUV's. I just have no evidence to support that.
And yes there are car markets other than the U.S., but ours is by far, for better or worse, the largest.
2008 Nissan GT-R unveiled on cover of Motor Trend {Autoblog}
Oct 16th 2007 10:52AM Hope this car doesn't suffer the same fate as the NSX. $80k for a Nissan is quite a bit. People aren't even willing to pay $35k for an EVO, so I'm not sure who will buy this. Especially over a Z06.

Oct 9th 2007 6:25PM "Some of you Autoblog readers need to realize that you're never going to find the "perfect" car"
I don't know. If Honda had put an engine with some torque in this car it would be pretty close for me. I've driven the 2.0 and the 2.2 and both suffer from an extremely peaky engine, but I loved everything else about the car.
Oh, and an adjustable steering wheel would be nice too. It sits too low for me.
I think this COULD have been the perfect car. Maybe in the next gen they will add some torque.
