NBC passes on U.S. Top Gear for now {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 9:51AM I thought I was the only person who saw that the KnightRider remake was doomed.

You know what doomed it?

The "poison pill" is the stupid "love drama" that executives put into every single show (ostensibly to get the female audience) that just kills them dead.
Why on earth would we want to follow a long drawn-out drama that just sucks the life out of an action plot?

GM increases exec salaries to "normal" levels {Autoblog}

Apr 26th 2008 6:44PM You do the math and see once and for all how stupid this "point" has always been:

14.4+6.9=21.3 (million)

At $70,000 per year per worker, that is 21.3 million/70,000= 304 workers

GM just laid off TENS of thousands of workers, yet at zero pay for Lutz and Wagoner, they still could only afford to hire 304 line workers.

(Worse yet, divide 21.3 million by 10,000 workers and pay the workers $2130 per YEAR! Feel dumber now? Surely Economics--or even Math--must be a capitalist pig invention!)

The next time you are tempted to talk nonsense like that, just do the math.

Corvette ZR-1 'Ring times in low 7:40s, GT-R V-Spec amused {Autoblog}

Apr 10th 2008 9:28PM This Motortrend video from Detroit has Tom Wallace saying that they predict that they will see "at worst" 7:30's and "might even see some 7:20's".

It's toward the end.

Don't count the ZR-1 out yet!

Meet the MarySlim, a Very Slender Vessel {Autoblog Green}

Mar 19th 2008 3:32PM Peter, did you follow the link? Or did your Socialist (I know exactly how much YOU need!) leanings get the better of you?

The FPB 64 is 64 feet long, and if a full ocean-going, high latitude aluminum-hulled trawler-type yacht.

You can rest assured that it "needs" 236HP easily.

The World of Rare Records: Lennon and McCartney's First Recording {Luxist}

Feb 12th 2008 10:18AM John Lennon was no different to any other person on earth. Please get a life all of you.

His music was nice--great even--but this borders on religion.

Many more people have died worse deaths that John Lennon.

Detroit 2008: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V unveiling w/ live shots {Autoblog}

Jan 14th 2008 12:39PM You need to shave off your own mullet and take off that Members Only jacket.

You're twenty years behind the rest of the country with those stereotypes.

Should we ban the catalytic converter? {Autoblog Green}

Jan 11th 2008 7:16AM You know this is a liberal blog when every morning you wake up and they're hard charging using the following words:

1. Ban

2. Regulate/Regulations.

3. Tax

4. Fine

The founding fathers would not recognize such an automatic totalitarian impulse.

I mean, just like that (without a thought) you can dream up--daily--more restrictions and burdens on the lives of other people (for their own good of course).

But in a world of Britney Spears and mindless, reflexive liberalism, I don't think people really think about what they are doing. After all, the media--and public opinion in your circles--tells you that by doing this, you are being virtuous.

Detroit 2008: 2009 Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid {Autoblog}

Jan 6th 2008 7:07PM Two-mode Lambdas are also coming (I believe after 2010) but I do not know how firm that is.

What I do know is that the Saturn Vue is going to be the first of the FWD two-modes.
The same way they adapted it for the Vue is the same way they will adapt it for the Lambdas.

That is what I am picking up:

As per one Detroit engineer.

Detroit 2008: 2009 Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid {Autoblog}

Jan 6th 2008 7:11AM The third will be a lithium-ion, plug-in hybrid Vue. I think it is due in 2009 or thereabouts.

http://www.autobloggreen.com/2006/11/29/la-auto-show-saturn-vue-green-line-will-offer-2-mode-and-plug-i/

It may show up in L.A. next year.

BTW, what happened to that "growing" LAIAS show? Not a peep this year there about anything important.
