Gas 5 years ago was around $2 / gallon. Nobody expected the price to more than double in 4 years.

Ya your right, the Mustang GT is definately geared for faster acceleration, especially the 3.55 gear versions. Mine is 3.33s because I do like top end. Anyway, this is why newer GTs beat LS1s to about 60 but then eventually creep behind at higher speeds. Doesn't happen to me anymore though ;).
I think Ford should have tuned the GT to 93 out of the factory, it could have made at least 320 hp. I don't think Mustang owners care that much about fuel, especially GT owners. I look at it as money spent for a fun time.

2010 Chevy Camaro - Official Details and Images {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 12:40AM I drive a 2005 Mustang GT with a couple go fast parts on it. With that said, Christian you are a dumbass. The new Camaro will not smoke my GT (13.2 @ 105). But, as for stock GTs, yes, it will beat them by a good amount. And yes it will be faster than the fat @$$ Challanger. As for price the Camaro SS will be quite a bit more than the $24,995 GT price tag, especially after mark up (ya you better believe there will be some mark up). The GT will beat V6s with no issue. Why? Two reasons: First of all the Camaro outweighs the GT Stang by 300 some pounds. Yes they make the same hp, but the 4.6 V8 has 50lb more torque. That's alot more. With all that said, Christian, purely biased people like yourself should not be able to take part in these debates.
Now as for the f-body vs. 05+ Stang debates, I have a couple things to say (defend my Mustang ego, lol) Yes I will admit that a manual ws6 will edge out my manual GT stock for stock everytime, as they have a couple time when i first got it, all have been good races though. Manual GTs should be able to take auto f-bodys barring a horrible driver. Another point I like to make is this: The LS1 was more expensive than the GT when it was new. Also, keep in mind the GT makes its 300 horsies on 87 fuel, while the LS1 uses 93. Now if the GT came tuned to 93 out of the factory, that's another 15-20 hp. So there is some food for thought.
So theres my take on it. I love all these cars, especially the new camaro. Beautiful. I'm just happy we are having these arguments again and involving all 3 companies in them. Lets see how this changes when the 2010 Mustang with the 5.0 400hp V8 debuts ;).

2009 Mazda6 starting at $19,220 {Autoblog}
Jul 16th 2008 2:12AM No manual! Boo-hoo, cry-cry, sob-sob. And hey, for that matter, throw in any other sterotypical autoblog "what? no manual?" whining you may want to hear.
Look at this from a financial standpoint people. 80% of buyers for this FAMILY midsize sedan are not car enthusiasts like you and I; nor do they know/care how to drive a manual. Of course, when you're on this site you would never know this because we are all car enthusiats and we love manuals. Mazda is probably saving some good cash by sticking to a lower number of powertrain options, especially the most popular ones.
Btw, I drive a 2005 Mustang GT five speed ; )
Ford working on high-performance Fusion GT, EcoBoost 'Stang on hold {Autoblog}
Jul 7th 2008 3:13PM @ LS2LS7 I completely agree. You don't see to many traffic light wars between Camry's and Fusions. People who complain that these cars don't make enough horsepower most likely wont drive family sedans in the first place. The majority of these buyers don't give a rat's @$$ about horsepower, but rather fuel economy, especially these days.
Imagine the fuel economy of these modern V6s if they were detuned to, say, 220 hp? 35mpg? I predict we will soon find out.
