Champ Car teams dropping like flies following IRL merger {Autoblog}
Mar 20th 2008 9:41AM Gerry Forsythe could afford to run Indy Car, he just refuses to. Forsythe Racing was sponsored by Indek, a company that Gerry owns! He was effectivly funding his own team! Now comes the jump to IRL, and after sitting complaining about the merger and how bad a man Tony G is, he suddenly can't find funding? It's just Gerrys stubbornness that is stopping him entering Indy Car.
The only reason Minardi entered the CCWS is because Kevin K was personally funding the running of the Minardi F1 2 Seater car as demonstration runs at events. Moving to Indy Car, there was no way that Tony George was going to bankroll it the same way that Kevin did, and Stoddart was never going to enter. But it wouldn't be like Stoddart to hold teams hostage until he gets his way would it? Oh wait...
Cadillac will not race again next year {Autoblog}
Oct 20th 2007 12:41PM Bit of ashame. I was treated to the lovely noise of the CTS-V engine and exhuast system at Long Beach in 2006. Wasn't quite prepared for it. Hanging over the wall at the hairpin when a champ Car goes past/under you is slightly uncomfortable on the ears, but that CTS-V is something else. A simply *epic* noise from it.
Customer cars could lead to F1 'Super Teams' in '08 {Autoblog}
Oct 8th 2007 8:02PM Customer chassis have been used since the 50s in F1. It is part of the history. Bruce McLaren started off buying his chassis, and look what he achieved.

Oct 8th 2007 8:01PM You are correct, it doesn't make sense. Bernie operates FOM, who are not responsible for the rules which F1 use. That responsibility goes to the FIA, which is run by Max Mosley. Mosley is more of a problem than Bernie ever has been.

Oct 8th 2007 7:14PM F1 is putting itself in a stupid situation. Customer teams were meant to become legal in 2008 to secure a strong grid for the future. This is what Prodrive was banking on when it got accepted in it's 2008 proposal. Now we are approaching 2008, and the FIA might turn around and say "no, we have changed our minds, you can't have customer cars anymore" and Prodrive is left with no car designed because it was told it wouldn't have to. Who will the FIA hold responsible for this screw up? Prodrive!
And this is a complete joke anyway, if customer cars aren't legal then why have no teams been banned for the customer cars that have ran over the years? The 1995 Ligier was a 1995 Benetton B195 chassis, the 2003 Sauber was a 2002 Ferrari, the 2007 STR is a 2007 RBR, the 2007 Super Aguri is a 2006 Honda. If customer cars are legal, then just say so. If they aren't legal, just say so. But currently they are illegal and a blind eye is being turned to it!
NASCAR nabs another: Dario Franchitti joins Chip Ganassi Racing {Autoblog}
Oct 6th 2007 1:50PM I'm sorry, 5 more years of Stock Car racing then...
Montoya never won an F1 Drivers Championship btw. His last championship was the 1999 CART title (which he beat Franchitti to on a wins tie breaker!)
NASCAR nabs another: Dario Franchitti joins Chip Ganassi Racing {Autoblog}
Oct 6th 2007 5:11AM Ragan has 6 years more Stock Car experience than Montoya and is running in one of the best teams on the grid. Montoya however is comfortably the top Ganassi driver at the moment.
As for Franchitti, the man is a class act. A true gentleman, check out the article on NASCAR.com about him at the moment, it's fantastic. His ARCA run was solid and uneventful, which is what you want at this stage of the learning experience.
Whilst Americans may not related to foreign drivers, they can relate to an Indy 500 Champion, no matter where they are from, and we currently have 3 scheduled for NASCAR in 2008 (Villeneuve, Franchitti, Montoya) and a possible 4th (Hornish).
NHRA legend John Force injured in crash {Autoblog}
Sep 24th 2007 1:23AM "Force is also largely fine, suffering a broken wrist and ankle in the crash."
It is far worse than that according to latest reports. He suffered a compound fracture of one leg and other leg was ground down to the bone at the knee. On one hand he has a broken and dislocated wrist and on the other hand broken fingers.
