2009 Chevy Camaro a no-show at auto shows {Autoblog}

Jan 22nd 2008 1:45PM I spent some time with a lower-level GM exec this past summer and the reason, according to him, the Camaro is past due for everything is because the prototypes are pieces of sh*t. He says a new manufacturing process is being introduced for the new Camaro and the results are not good. He fears GM may have another mistake on it's hands if the process isn't tightened up A LOT between now and actual production. Crazy that GM is gambling both process and product, but these are hard times in the auto industry and you have to hope GM is learning from it's previous decades worth of mistakes.

The US Minivan's last stand - Chrysler to debut 2008 Minvans at Detroit {Autoblog}

Jan 3rd 2007 2:50PM Listen, this post has more opinion than fact in it, mostly by brand loyalists without a lot of seat time in any of the vans mentioned. I rode in the Chrylser variations as a kid and gave them the first shot when it came time to buy for my family 6 years ago. They were instantly taken off the list when I looked at reliability, safety and power, which to me are the 3 main issues to buy or not. I drove every van on the market and bought the Honda Odyssey. Why? Amazing reliability, rock solid safety record and great power - no one who has driven the DCX versions can argue the Honda is top dog here. Some may feel the DCX version deserves brand loyalty for inventing the niche, but I believe in the free market and as such, I bought what works best. By the way, after owning my Honda for nearly six years, I'll be at the dealership in the spring to order another one. I wouldn't even consider the DCX with their qualitative issues. I hope that dealership repair waiting room is comfy - those of you that choose the DCX are going to be spending a lot of time there.

Wham! George Michael seen plowing into parked cars with Range Rover {Autoblog}

Apr 19th 2006 11:15AM To SoWhat:
Hmmm. As a pyschologist, I don't remember ever reading about homosexuality as a mental illness. You may want to recant your statement, or actually read something other than Nazi literature. Or, if you are looking for signs of real mental illness, you may want to look in the mirror.
As for George, just more stupid behavior, which he's already quite famous for.

Why GM just can't win {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2006 10:22PM OK, look guys, lets be fair here:
1. Consumer Reports does serve a function in the world, but it isn't to provide useful info to people passionate about cars, which most of you bloggers are. Dishwashers, yes. Cars, no.
2. I grew up in a GM-only family, but quickly broke ranks after driving my first German car. GM has never made anything close to competing with what Euro car makers do.
3. Some folks simply want a car to go from point A to B and that's why GM sells any cars at all. Few of their cars appeal to any degree of passion you may have. The rest of us want a car that says something and represents some form of innovation. German cars do that for me. We live in a GLOBAL market and the demand is increasing for well-engineered cars regardless of where they are made and decreasing for tepid, same-as-ever boxes like what GM produces.
4. With that in mind, I'd buy a GM car that had some similar appeal in a second. There simply aren't any...well, OK, maybe the 'Vette, but it doesn't do so hot in the snow belt here.
5. As for the whining GM factory workers concerned about the "Japanese" taking more jobs here, geez, get real. The Japanese are OPENING new car plants here and GM is closing them. As long as you make $75k cranking out crappy cars and my kid's teacher with a master's degree makes $30k, this country will continue to decline while the rest of the world rises to the occasion.
