May 12th 2008 4:38PM Yawn!!!!
Something that is being taken care of on vehicles that have been heavily redesigned...

May 12th 2008 4:37PM Other than the tensioner and the control unit, things don't sound too bad. I have warped a couple rotors on my Regal but I know it was because of how I drive. It happens to ALL cars.
It is unfortunate that those two things happened but they are actually pretty easy fixes.
Now, if the transmission went or maybe something serious along those lines, I would say buy whatever suits you.
I think it's pretty sad that someone would sell their car and buy something else just because of three easy fixes and burned out light bulbs. Goes to show how simple minded some people are.
Plus, like someone else said, some cars will have more problems than others. Go to any dealership and you will see some of the best selling vehicles having repairs done to them. It happens.

May 12th 2008 4:28PM Come here to Michigan and you will still see a crapload of older Ford, GM and Chrysler cars. And some that are still in great condition.
Can't say the same thing about the imports. You may get the occasional Camry, Accord, Civic, etc. in decent shape but they are pretty much rare.
Heck, my 1994 Buick Regal just hit 140k miles. Runs like new and has two small spots of rust on it. My 94 Escort wagon had around 160k miles on it when I sold it. That, also, was in good shape.
And only if you knew how much salt they use in this state...
Rendered Speculation: Is it SHOtime for the next Ford Taurus? {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 5:31PM Heck, I still see quite a few SHOs running around in great condition (most 92-95s and 96-99s).
I came close to buying a 95 with 60k miles on it. No rust. Interior was in perfect condition. Ran like a dream. A neighbor has a sister with a 94 that I would LOVE to get my hands on. The SHOs I didn't like were the V-8 versions. I rarely see one that is in good shape and the whole reliability issue turns me off....but they are fun to drive.
Oh and MUSHA, I dunno about your Escort but mine (94 wagon) was a beast.

More creative incentives: Buy a VW Routan and get $1,500 for college {Autoblog}
May 8th 2008 5:20PM Pfft...my last semester of school (a whopping 12 credit hours) cost around $850. Gotta love community college!!!
Heck, my most expensive semester was my first (20 credit hours) and that cost around $1100.
Same education but at a heck of a lower cost. I CAN'T wait until I go to a four year school and pay ridiculously high tuition (sarcasm).

May 8th 2008 5:41AM Escape can run on battery only. Not sure for how long though...
Look it up!
Anyways, I usually fill up at the 260 mile mark. My fuel guage is so out of whack, I am never 100% sure how much I have left. But I usually never go over 280 miles.
Yes, that doesn't seem like a ton of miles. But my car averages 16 mpg.

May 7th 2008 5:53AM Don't tell me you actually believe that.
You think they invested a whole team, suppliers and hundreds of millions of dollars into THIS and not a, let's say, hybrid program?
If you truly believe that, do us a favor and just go sit in the corner and be quiet.

May 6th 2008 12:05AM What about Toyota? They keep sitting on their hands when it comes to the truck market. Toyota doesn't deserve any "focus".

May 6th 2008 12:02AM I doubt it. We have several late model Powerstrokes in our fleet with over 80k miles and all are on their original engines. Granted, most of them are the (best out of the group) 7.3Ls and five are 6.0s (which have performed flawlessly).
