EPIC calls for some unity on the ethanol issue, darnit {Autoblog Green}
Jul 3rd 2008 12:03PM I've got some unity for you. Let's all unify to get together and lynch these ethanol bastards.
Making fuel out of edible foods is just about the stupidest thing I can think of. The only stupider thing is squeezing high fructose corn syrup out of it to poison our kids.
Straw Poll: Dec. 21 - Jan. 4 {Political Machine Blog}
Dec 26th 2007 5:08AM Ron Paul really has a chance at this, people. I'm heading to Iowa tomorrow to go knock on people's doors. The American government acts more like a fascist government today than at any time in our history. This is the elephant in the room that no other candidate will acknowledge.
"The land of the free"?
Every year, you have to report every last cent you earn to government authorities.
America has more people in prison than RUSSIA AND CHINA COMBINED.
America has not constitutionally declared war since World War II - 66 years ago.
"The land of the free?"
Doesn't this seem CRAZY, people? Do you remember being taught about a "constitution" when you were in school?
The people of America are too proud and too smart to let this continue. Freedom is too deeply ingrained in our national psyche, it's too damned important - if it falls here, it falls in the whole world.
Call me a spam-bot or un-American when I'm knocking on your door in Iowa in freezing snow to preach the original American ideals of liberty, federalism, and the Constitution.
Seagate FreeAgent drives not down with Linux? {Engadget}
Dec 8th 2007 4:33AM Oops...well, I'm a Linux user, that's enough for me to never buy a Seagate product again, at least until I read otherwise. There's plenty of fish in the pond.
That's all right, you didn't need my money anyway, right?
House overwhelmingly passes SAFE Act on obscene images -- Ron Paul dissents to save us from ourselves? {Engadget}
Dec 7th 2007 2:29AM Me, personally, I have read Ron Paul essays and house speeches for years..thought he was one of the most courageous and insightful commentators and critics of the Bush Administration way before this election.

Dec 7th 2007 2:23AM The problem with your theory of our benevolently casting our power out into the world is that we, well, have often cast it in support of the wrong people. We have all too often installed cruel and murderous dictatorships in the name of "freedom" - Iran, Guatemala, Chile, Indonesia, to name a few. Not that we haven't done some good, but too often we've come up to burning houses around the world with a fire hose all ready to go, that was spraying...gasoline.
The second problem, of course, is that we were never supposed to do this. Read Adam's July 4, 1821 speech in which he stated "(we) go not forth in search of monsters to destroy". The best way to maintain democracy is to make our own democracy as free and good at home as possible, to be an example to the world. This was the vision of our founding fathers. Now, we are on a slippery slope - we are less free than we were 50 or 100 years ago, and are on track to be much less free in 50 years.
From what I read, the bases we have built in Iraq are permanent. So, we will let them have some sort of elected government, as long as we approve of it, as long as they let us keep their troops there. How would you feel if, say, Sweden opened up a base in upstate New York?
The other argument, of course, is simple. The war, this massive military all over the world, is bankrupting us. If we win the "war on terrorism" (which seems about as winnable as the "war on poverty" or the "war on drugs", do to it being so loosely defined) it will be a Pyrrhic victory that will almost certainly bankrupt us, seeing how it will last our entire lifetimes (according to Cheney). I believe that being beholden to foreign financiers like China and Saudi Arabia, and the risk of an economic collapse that would look a lot like Germany in the 1920s, represent a much more clear and present threat to our freedom and security than some fanatics on the other side of the world.
Terrorists can never take our freedom away. Only our politicians and bureaucrats can do that.
Ron Paul represents the best hope of keeping this beacon of freedom to the world from going out.

Dec 7th 2007 1:44AM "Furthermore, he isn't really a libertarian so much as a states rights advocate - had he lived 150 years ago, he would have supported slavery, and had he lived 50 years ago, he would have supported segregation."
And today, in 2007, he wants to end the Federal War on Drugs, which has become America's Apartheid (around 15% of drug users are black, while more than 50% of drug prisoners are black).
Unfortunately, for every good thing the Federal Government does, I can name 10 bad things. Federalism (state's rights) is how this country was meant to be run, and we should return to it.
To kill a minivan: kid-haulers a dying breed {Autoblog}
Aug 13th 2007 6:00PM I had a great time traversing a jeep trail towards a rock climbing spot in a rented Town and Country recently...crashing through dry river beds full of rocks. The thing is, due to a heavy rain a few days before, the Arizona desert sand was this slimy deep mud, so we had to haul ass through the entire thing to avoid getting stuck.
It was great fun until we heard that hissing noise!
Getting back out on the donut was almost as much fun as changing the tire in the middle of a big mud pit...
As for this one...well, they did what they could, but what's the point of trying to make a minivan look agressive and frowning? The styling cue looks a lot better on the Magnum...
Spy Shots: Honda Accord coupe goes out for groceries {Autoblog}
Aug 13th 2007 5:50PM Wow, this car makes me realize something - Honda has had really had pretty consistently good design over the last 20 years-especially since the mid 90s.
The second Prelude, the late 90s civic coupes, the early 00s accord couple, and now this - timless designs.
Muscular yet restrained, and all around great dimensions.
I agree that offering a hatch again would be sweet.
Hyundai considering RWD, car-based pickup {Autoblog}
May 5th 2007 3:33AM Build it and they will come...
Just as long as it has a cargo bay longer than the damn baja!
A waterproof lockbox built under the floor of the bed bed would be essential-for laptops and stuff like that.
Chrysler doesn't think you're "Of The Year" material {Autoblog}
Dec 18th 2006 4:13PM Hillary is a warmonger, she will pursue the exact same foreign policy objectives of bushco but do it more successfully and attract less bad publicity. Where was she at the start of the Iraq war? She was beating the same war drum as everybody else.
we need a radical change of direction. mrs. clinton offers nothing like that.
I think the person of the year should be "You, as long as you never appeared in the news ever"..it seemed like just about everybody in the news was screwing up, while the regular joes were doing pretty cool things.
