Daytona 500 results [Spoiler Alert!] {Autoblog}
Feb 19th 2007 12:47PM #31, you are not the only one. Darryl Waltrip OWNS a Toyota truck team (or at least did), and he has a person interest in wanting the NASCAR fans to accept Toyota. Plus, his dorky brother "Mikey" is the face of Toyota in NASCAR, with three (3) teams of his own. So Waltrip is a paid commercial spokesman for Toyota. The only problem is, he does it during the race, and not just when Toyota pays him for doing commercials for them. Toyota is getting free positive publicity during the racecasts, and it's not right. But then again, as much money as Toyota has, they may well be paying FOX for those promotions. Just like Budweiser, NAPA, UPS, etc do. That's why you always see shots of the NAPA or UPS or Budsweiser cars even when they are 10laps down.
Chicago Auto Show: New Dodge trucks can carry a 'chip-load' of stuff {Autoblog}
Feb 8th 2007 12:37PM Obviously you do NOT know a thing about trucks...hp has really nothing to do with power..TORQUE is what trucks use to move things. Likewise torque is why American car engines don't have to rev to high heaven like a Honda to give good performance
Posted at 6:18AM on Feb 8th 2007 by RamSport47
RamSport, you can't have it BOTH ways. If HP is not important in a truck, then why does Dodge, and Dodge owner, advertise and/or brag about having more HP in their Hemi than Ford does?
By the way, Dodge does lead the competition is on catagory: 60% of all Ram owners by a different brand truck when they turn their Dodge Ram in.
Chicago Preview: Dodge facelifts the Dakota for 2008 {Autoblog}
Feb 5th 2007 8:19AM 28. 2008 Dakota
Best in class HP
Best in class Torque
Best in class crew cab interior room
Best in class standard bed, largest and longest
Best in class extended cab door opening angles
Best in class towing
Best in class hauling
At this point in time, the Tacoma, Frontier and Dakota all offer a 5 speed automatic. None offer a 6 speed.
If you want the best offroad 4X4 pickup for extreme offroading, yep, the Tacoma or Frontier are probably the better chouce. Their size is a little more managable and that seem to be the "image" niche they have carved out.
But, if you want the best pickup truck 4X2 or 4X4 for everyday use as a vehicle to haul passengers/family comfortably, doubling as a car, and to haul/tow, such as a boat, then the Dakota is the best mid sized pickup truck.

Jim,
All of those stats are GREAT if your buying a commercial vehicle. Buy I'm assuming the Dakota was designed for the general public. Companies base their vehicle purchases on the most bang for the buck. People buy vehicles because it's a form of expression, more so than capabilities, at least most people do. Even if you're a Dodge fan or sell them for a living, you have to be honest with yourself with this one. DCX blew it big time!

Another racing legend shuffled off this mortal coil: Benny Parsons dead at 65 {Autoblog}
Jan 17th 2007 1:24PM First of all..to the Autoblog editors: What the hell took so long to post this??? I kept checking all day yesterday when the news broke, and NOTHING posted until TODAY? Are you asleep at the wheel?
Benny was like your favorite uncle, or grandpa that you couldn't wait to see when you were a kid. It would have been great to sit down for a beer or lunch and listen to all of his stories. Remember those "Benny's Buffet" shoots they used to do when he was with ESPN? Priceless! Everyone who knew Benny all said that he was as down to earth and genuine to everyone in person, whether he knew you or not, as he came across on TV. The world could use a few more BP's.
BMW quietly releases redesigned 5-series, M5 touring {Autoblog}
Jan 9th 2007 10:04AM 10. Still ugly as sin. BMW, Benz, and Porsche are so bland... BMW: Bangle, need I say more?
Hello, earth to John (#10), if the Bangle Butt is so ugly, then why is Lexus, just to name one, copying it?
it's turned out to be a success. Who cares what the critics say? BMW 7 series sales went UP with teh Bangle Butt.

I couldn't agree more #14. That Chrysler Grill, along with the Dodge cross bar grill, have grown very tiresome to me. It's time for a tweak or two. Yes, it may yell "I'm a Chrysler or Dodge" when coming at you, but so what? They're both a yawner. I'm sure these fans sell mostly on price and interior function, at least that's what Ford and GM thought, didn't they?
