Amazon Kindle is back in stock {Engadget}

Apr 21st 2008 11:34AM Not sure why you guys are all getting up in arms about proprietary formats. I have about 100 books that I downloaded from Gutenberg. org on mine. I also have a bunch from manybooks. net as well. The kindle reads mobi format as long as they are not DRMed and it reads .txt as well. I plug in with the usb cord and move it directly over into the documents folder on the kindle drive (which shows up in my computer under XP). Sure the books I have bought from Amazon are in the kindle format, and they are DRMed, but the ease of getting them wirelessly and the fact that the books cost me about 10 bucks less for a newly released book make it pretty nice. I am sure at some point the publishers will get over the DRM fears that they have and make them non DRMed. Its not like I am going to share a book that I paid for to a bunch of freeloaders.

Accident involving 200+ cars occurs on Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway {Autoblog}

Mar 11th 2008 3:54PM Having seen fog like this and having seen the 60 plus car pile ups in fog, I tend to not blame people in accidents like this. Also, notice all the white vehicles, notoriously hard to see in this kind of weather.

Mar 11th 2008 3:40PM I feel bad for all those women who walk around with "joy buzzers" in their panties. I wonder if they will notice the security guards snickering?

Mar 11th 2008 2:32PM I wonder if they have done the same test with normal gas engines as well, or done it with biodiesel burning engines.

One wonders if that much time with biodiesel would be making you run to the local fast food joint for french fries?

Blame the dollar for no VW Scirocco in the States {Autoblog}

Mar 5th 2008 5:18PM How about both? I love my Eos, it is the greatest car I have ever owned. Hard top convertible with a sunroof..for under 40 grand. Only hardtop in the world at this point with both a sunroof and convertible. While I am sad that you folks will be denied a Scirocco, I am loving my Eos.

Honda touts new energy efficient "heat-harnessing hybrid" {Engadget}

Feb 20th 2008 11:27AM Actually..make more SUVs..but make them with Hydraulic Hybrid power. I would love to be driving an Explorer or Expedition with 7000 pounds of Hydraulic Thrust, getting the same MPG as a Ugly frickin Prius, and without the extra battery waste.

This kind of tech could be used in smaller vehicles too, but right now the tanks are bulky.

Not all of us want to drive a small ugly car.

Kindle bags its first accessories, from WaterField {Engadget}

Feb 7th 2008 11:58AM I love my Kindle. Amazon states on the promo page that the Kindle is intended to not stand out, but deliver the content. It does just that. It looks better in reality than any picture or video. So far 3 friends of mine have Kindles now due to seeing my Kindle, and several more will get one as a gift from their spouse. I have over 200 books on my Kindle now. Most were free off the web, thus I feel my Kindle has more than paid for itself. I love the fact that I can get the book right away, versus going to a bookstore, being disappointed in inventory there and have to order it and wait up to a week to get the book. This is saving me gas and time. I have bought content for the Kindle directly from Amazon as well as directly from Baen books, and they have over 100 free books on their website, designed to entice you into reading more from the Authors they have. It worked since I have also spent more than 60 dollars there buying books. I actually like the Kindle cover, and I like the fact that I can now read a book easily while walking and running on a treadmill. I happen to have an Iphone as well as a Kindle and to be honest I think the Kindle is a better product. It is simple to use, and simple to enjoy.

Teens caught for phony Craigslist Porsche scam {Autoblog}

Jan 11th 2008 11:58AM Yep it makes me very sad that people in NYC are unable to legally arm themselves to protect themselves and their property. It just goes to show you that when guns are illegal, only criminals will carry them. A person with a legal carry permit is less likely to kill someone than some random guy without any gun education. It makes me sad that people in NYC are not free anymore, but are slaves to the cops and the criminals.
